Now that I’ve spent four days in Fort Mill getting to watch some of the best players from independent programs all around the region play extensively, I’ve been able to see many awesome talents our state holds. Check out some of my top 2025 prospects from action this weekend from the Phenom Summer Havoc.

Lawhon had another explosive weekend playing up an age group, showcasing an all-around offensive game while also being serviceable on the defensive end. He shot the ball well from deep, both off the catch and the dribble. His best scoring spot on the floor is the mid-range, getting crafty with finishes and pull-up jumpers to keep the defense off balance. Not only a scorer, will use the attention defenders give him in order to hit his teammates for open shots. He’s an efficient offensive performer that should find a home in our next rankings update.
Benham is a certified sniper, and looks to have added other areas to his game since I last saw him. He seems to have grown and developed physically, but he is still shooting the cover off the ball. Off the catch, screens, and the dribble, he’s got a smooth motion and gets it off quickly. This attention that he gets has opened up driving lanes and the ability to attack closeouts, which he is doing with much more skill and ability than I saw him last. He’s able to get to the cup, or get to two feet and find the next pass. It should be interesting to watch him this year with an increased role in high school, but he played very well this weekend.
Overman is a really intriguing name with Strong Center ‘s 2025 group as a big man who’s continuing to make big strides in his game. He’s got the ability to impact the game on both ends in the interior, but is starting to show more mobility and fluidity that will help him achieve success at higher levels. He rebounds well on both ends, with a big frame that allows him to take space. As a rim protector he’s very good with his hands up and playing without fouling. He finished well around the rim, dunking a lot and just being solid in that facet of his game. He’s got lots of room to grow still, but impressive in his performances this weekend.
Highlights
Asher Tolbert
Asher Tolbert
Tolbert continued to show off why he should get on more radars this upcoming year, with an impressive shooting stroke and more to add on offense. He is a certified floor spacer, moving well without the ball and spotting up from three in order to create space for his teammates. When he does get the ball, it’s going up and it’s going in, as he’s shot an absurd 50+% clip from behind the line in AAU competition. He can even get inside the arc to make floaters or finishes around the rim, not just limiting himself to being a spot up threat. His size and scoring ability should make him a 2 guard that gets more interest soon from schools.
Hicks showed off impressive shot creation and scoring all weekend in the 16U division, pushing his name into contention to be recruited at the next level. He’s got nice lateral agility which makes him hard to guard one on one, and he can do a lot of different things to get a bucket. He’s good with getting to the rim, but if you take that away he’s going to take pull-up jumpers that are very efficient and consistent. I’ve got to see more from him on the defensive end, but offensively he provides a lot of threats to make plays and get his team points. Keep an eye on him this high school season.
