Camden brings so much to the floor for Greater Purpose, and his toughness and versatility is a big reason why they came away with the win against Mac Irvin Fire. Need an assist? Put the ball in Camden’s hands and just let him create. He just finds ways to slip into the lane and locate an open teammate as soon as another defender steps in. Tough finisher as well when he gets a clear path to the rim. Defensively he doesn’t back down from a challenge and seems to take a charge or two every time I watch him play.
Not sure there was a better scorer at the event than Jaiden. He already stood out upon initial viewing, but after going through my film he put up even bigger numbers than I imagined. His ability to create shots off the dribble without having to pound the air out of the ball was impressive. He gets downhill and either forces his man to drop off allowing him to pull-up for a jumper, or his speed allows him to get an edge on his man and get all the way to the basket. Crafty finisher around the rim as he can hang in the air to adjust his body in a number of ways to convert.
Benjamin Tweedy
Benjamin Tweedy
Tweedy is absolutely electric with the ball in his hands. At 6’4 he has the size and skillset to play either guard spot, but I loved him with the ball in his hands looking to create for his teammates. Had a lot of success driving baseline and slipping in passes to one of his three 6’10+ bigs, but he could also get downhill off a screen and then thread the needle to one of those bigs rolling to the hoop. Created easy looks for his frontcourt teammates all game long by placing passes where only they could get to. When scoring on his own he’s such a crafty finisher going full speed at the rim, and has a nice floater game with either hand to finish over size. Very intriguing guard prospect out of Australia.
Cameron Hurt
Cameron Hurt
Playing up three years, Cameron was holding his own against a tough Corey Graham Elite team. He checked in off the bench and immediately nailed a three from the wing. Confident shooter with a buttery smooth shot from beyond the arc. Although mostly a three point threat in the game I saw, he was also able to leak out in transition for a finish to add to his scoring total. Even when being pressured hard he didn’t look fazed, and instead saw the floor and played the game at his own pace.
Gifted scorer who plays with a competitive edge. Went out and guarded the opposing team’s best player on Sunday, and came down the other end going right back at him offensively. Capable of catching fire from beyond the arc with his ability to create space off the dribble, but I also liked how he wasn’t just settling for jumpers. Dekwon had a smaller guard on him, and made it a priority to either get to the rim with physical drives, or establish deep post position and finish over the top inside. Just a gritty, hardworking player who is going to fight for rebounds, play fast, and put points on the board.
Highlights
Ron took over in the second half against JustAGame Select to help his team pull away and secure the win. He’s lightning quick, and puts that agility to use on both ends of the floor. Defensively he’s an absolute pest as he’s constantly pressuring the ball, and has no problem fighting over screens on the perimeter. Constantly cutting his man off and forcing him to get rid of the ball. Offensively he can stop on a dime for a short/mid-range jumper, and gets good elevation on his shot. Had success using his speed to get out in the open floor and finish in transition as well.
Nick Moore is a physically built floor general for Corey Graham Elite. From a build standpoint he just looks ready for the college level. Really liked the vision he displayed throughout the weekend to create open looks for his teammates. Was constantly looking to throw the ball ahead in transition when the opportunity was there, and was also a good facilitator out of the pick & roll. When scoring on his own his strong frame allowed him to bulldoze his way to the rim to finish through contact.
