Jayden Quaintance
Jayden Quaintance
Quaintance recently reclassified into the class of 2024 despite just being 15 years old still! He joined up with Team Loaded to try and make a run at the 3SSB championship and was a big help on the interior. A skilled and productive paint scorer, Quaintance showed the ability to finish with either hand and has soft touch at the basket. Soft hands as well, Quaintance catches everything thrown his way. A couple slam dunks in the paint as well showed off his athleticism. Defensively, Quaintance is a monster who limits opposing bigs from scoring and dominates the glass. All signs point to Quaintance being a potential future first round pick in the NBA draft, most likely in 2026.
In other 17 U bracket play action, Norris stood out for Midwest Basketball Club despite a disappointing final result. Norris was making shots from the outside, moving the ball quickly and competing defensively. His most important shot of the game came from the top of the key as his 3-pointer cut the deficit to two points with four minutes and change to play. His best pass was a drive and skip to a 3-point shooter in the corner, zipping the ball from one side of the court to the other. One of the most impactful high school players in the state, Norris has plenty of low to mid major interest right now.
A prospect I’ve been high on for a long time, Lipkins is one of Ohio’s youngest 2024 prospects and came in clutch for Team Phenom United in their victory over Midwest Basketball Club to advance to the elite 8 of the 17 U championship. Lipkins knocked down five 3-pointers and shot the ball with confidence from the outside. The biggest shot of the game came when Lipkins knocked down a spot-up 3-pointer with just under 10 seconds to play to put his team up two. Standing out in front of a handful of Division II and Low Major coaches, expect a spike in Lipkins recruitment very soon.
Recently cleared to play for the first time since the early spring, it was good to see Friery back on the court with his Phenom United 16 U squad. Making his biggest impact with his length and ability to put the ball on the floor, Friery scored most of his points in transition. Outrunning other forwards down the court, Friery got some easy buckets on the fast break. The shooting wasn’t really there as he’s still getting back up to speed but that should be back in no time. A high upside 2025 prospect, Friery will likely see a boost in his recruitment during the winter after missing most of the top recruiting time in the summer due to injury.
Clark has been one of the fastest rising 2025 prospects in Ohio and continued to impress in his first live period 3SSB event with Midwest Basketball Club’s 16 U group. An elite shooter of the basketball, Clark has a quick release and gets it up to the rim in the blink of an eye. Using mostly simple moves to attack a closeout, Clark usually doesn’t try to do things out of his wheelhouse. With his athleticism and shooting ability plus the efficiency he played with, college coaches took interest in Clark on their 16 U group. Radford became the first school to offer the Kings wing guard after his impressive play on Friday.
