We dive into the positional rankings. We move over to the shooting guards for the rising sophomore class.
Here are the top-10 SG’s in the 2026 class:
Rider Portela Rider Portela 6'5" | SG Sunnyslope | 2026 State AZ Sunnyslope (Pictured)
A high-flying scoring guard is easily the top athlete of the group. He is a three level scorer and will defend multiple positions. He can pull-up, hit the catch three and throw it down on the break.
Jelani McKoy Jelani McKoy 6'2" | SG Canyon International Academy | 2026 State AZ Dream City Christian International
A two-way defensive guard can score and pester opposing ball handlers with his quick twitch athleticism. He has good lateral quickness and the lefty can hit the three or get downhill.
Landon Jones Landon Jones 6'3" | SG Ironwood | 2026 State AZ Ironwood
One of the top shooters in the class is just scratching the surface. He is young for the class but has great size and length to go along with his strap. He gets squared very quickly and lets it fly quickly before the defense will close out. Once he fills in some more, he will be even harder to handle.
Joshua McManaway Joshua McManaway 6'3" | SG McClintock | 2026 State AZ McClintock
Another scoring guard, who was the breakout stock riser of the class, can sling it with range. He, like Landon, John and Zach, is a knockdown three point shooter. He grew a little recently and plays with huge confidence. He is another that should make a big jump up in production on varsity.
Maleek Simeus Chandler
A sturdy framed scoring guard loves attacking the basket. He uses his frame, burst and handle to carve his way into the paint and score in traffic. He can still shoot it from the perimeter from mid to the three point line.
Kristo Jackson Kristo Jackson 6'2" | SG San Tan Charter | 2026 State AZ San Tan Charter
Another scoring guard who is a fierce defender on the ball. He has some upper body strength to absorb the contact when he gets downhill and can hit the perimeter jumper. He is a a very good rebounder for position and will rip some pockets for steals.
Rylan Parsley Rylan Parsley 6'5" | SG Sandra Day O'Connor | 2026 State AZ Sandra Day O’Connor
Every event I went to that he was in, he seemed to standout. The scoring guard has great size, length and skill. He can shoot the three with some consistency plus plays the passing lanes well. He can create a little but is best off the catch.
John Fahrendorf John Fahrendorf 6'3" | SG St. Mary's | 2026 State AZ St. Mary’s
One of the better catch and shoot three point specialists in the class. He has great size for the position already and has a super quick release. He can also take a couple dribbles and pull-up from mid-range. He will contribute more this upcoming season.
Zach Cutler Zach Cutler 6'3" | SF AZ College Prep | 2026 State AZ AZ College Prep
Another top of the food chain catch and shoot three point specialist. He has a quick trigger with good size and squares up flawlessly. He should be an impact varsity player this year as their top shooter and will rebound and create a little as a new player on varsity.
Chris King Chris King 6'2" | SG AZ Compass Prep | 2026 State AZ Queen Creek
One of the top two-way scoring guards in this class. He is a little undersized but is a quick twitched athlete with long arms. He has good speed and natural quickness to beat his opponent to the spot. He seems to collect steals in bunches and then will out race them to the basket. He can get to the rim plus hit a perimeter jumper.
