Scott showed out with The Family this grassroots season. He proved that he could be a dynamic playmaker on the big stage against elite competition. Scott can attack off the bounce with solid handles and a quick first step. He did a nice job of drawing the defense and dishing to the open man. Scott can play the game at a next level speed.
Phifer has been seeing his stock rise for a while now and it did so quite a bit over grassroots season. He’s a slippery wing that does a nice job creating space. Phifer’s pull up jumper was on point all summer. He stopped on a dime, pulled up, and connected on a consistent basis. Phifer stayed balanced and hit his shots from mid range and beyond the arc, proving to be a true 3 level scorer with REACH.
The number next to his name doesn’t do him justice. I think he can be a D1 lead guard. Screenshot it if you’d like, I stand by that statement. When you can fill it up from deep in today’s game the way that Yeager can, there’s a place for you in basically any offense. The rest of his game continues to improve at a rapid rate as well giving him extraordinarily high upside.
Highlights
After a tremendous high school season, all eyes were on Vermaas this grassroots season. He certainly didn’t disappoint. In fact he more than proved himself as a player and a prospect. We could talk all day about his ability to take shots and make shots, but I want to go to the core of what I think makes him such a good basketball player. That’s the fact that he’s as gritty and as tough as they come. Vermaas is willing to lay it on the line to see his team win and to be great at what he does.
Dillard II could be seen absolutely filling it up during high school season. We were all anxious to see what his game would look like during grassroots season when the competition was great every game. Well, Dillard II showed that he could handle and score with the best of them. He flaunted his volleyball line range and his quick handles throughout the summer.
