Barrantes is getting noticeably stronger in his upper body, which will allow him to be more competitive in the paint on both ends of the floor. Over the last few years, he has put up big rebounding numbers, but a lot of that has come because he’s simply 6-8 inches taller than everyone else on the floor with him, but this added strength will make him formidable as a rebounder as he continues to develop and move onto the next level. He has good hands and soft touch around the rim, as well as the ability to step out and stretch the floor with his jumper.
PF Markese Harvey-Bell Markese Harvey-Bell 6'6" | PF Roosevelt | 2025 State IA (Roosevelt)
Harvey-Bell is raw offensively, but has was a menace on the defensive end in the Roughriders game against Norwalk, at one point blocking shots on four out of five possessions. He has an intriguing blend of size and athleticism, and his timing as a shot blocker is good.
SF Cole Beinborn Cole Beinborn 6'4" | SF Pleasant Valley | 2025 State IA (Pleasant Valley)
A big, physical wing who can score from all three levels, Beinborn has a quick release and extended range, especially off the catch. He is improving his ball-handling, which is allowing him to do more creating, both for himself and his teammates. He uses his bigger frame to his advantage, finishing through contact at the rim. He sees the floor well, and as anyone who plays at PV, he’s a good team defender.
SF Timothy Koerselman (Norwalk)
Koerselman had a really good weekend for the Warriors, routinely knocking down shots off the catch, rebounding well on both ends of the floor, and providing some versatility on the defensive end. The 6-2 wing has a clean release on his jumper and will contribute across the board.
PF Brody Clubb Brody Clubb 6'3" | PF Clear Creek Amana | 2025 State IA (Clear Creek Amana)
Clubb is a football player garnering Power 5 attention, but the basketball coach’s son is also a solid player on the hardwood. He’s a big, physical forward who uses his strength to his advantage, finishing through contact and not allowing his opponent to get to his preferred spot in the paint. He has good footwork and soft touch around the rim, and is a mobile big who runs the floor well and establishes good early position.
PF Derek Willmott (Indianola)
A 6-5/6-6 big man who runs the floor hard and has good hands, Willmott showed a lot of promise as a rebounder on both ends of the floor in the Indians’ loss to Winterset, pulling down 10 rebounds. He has soft touch around the rim and is a good, willing passer out of the low post.
SF Kaiden Smith (Knoxville)
Smith is an intriguing prospect with a good combination of size (6-4/6-5), length, and athleticism on the perimeter. His offensive game is a little limited, but he showed some confidence in a 15-foot jumper, and he can provide a lot of value as a lengthy, versatile defender who gets into passing lanes and contests shots well. He had a few good defensive rotations over for helpside blocks, showing good timing and instincts.
