PH NorCal was at the inaugural Cali-Live event for California High School Boys Basketball during the Live Period when colleges coaches are permitted to attend. Championship Sunday at Irvine High School. 10 division finals, 7 NorCal finalists. Two games featured NorCal matchups. Monterey Trail 55, Bellarmine College Prep 54, Rocklin 57 Clayton Valley Charter 44, Archbishop Mitty 57, Montgomery 51 (SoCal), Serra 37, Poly Riverside 47 (SoCal), Salesian College Prep 56, Harvard Westlake 53 (SoCal). Sunday's Best:
It takes team work to win a championship because of this, these players stoodout.

[player_tooltip player_id='1515114' first='Damarion' last='Vann-Kelly'] 6'3 2024 SG, Monterey Trail

Vann-Kelly raised his stock with his overall play during the 3 day event. He was NorCal's leading scorer, and 11th overall with 24.3ppg, 3-3's pg, maybe more, 3stls pg. He's a rising prospect in NorCal with his ability to knock down 3's, slash/cut without the ball. He can use his dribble with quickness to create. He's a good defender when locked in. He's hearing from DI's.

[player_tooltip player_id='1384646' first='Brayden' last='Harris'] 6'5 2025 SG, Bellarmine College Prep

Harris, a long guard probably still growing and a frame to fill-out, shoots the jump shot from mid-range out past the 3-point line with a good FGP %, quality over quantity putting up shots, good shot selection. He has work to do, but showed he has an improving skill set that translates to the next level with continued development.

[player_tooltip player_id='1256538' first='Gavin' last='Ripp'] 6'8 2024 Forward, Archbishop Mitty

Ripp has good size at 6'8, he'll continue to bulk his frame. He was the main ingredient that allowed the Monarchs to establish themselves early on in this tournament with his activity and production in and around the post area. He controlled the boards, scored from High, Mid, and Low post positions, he's underrated as a passer. He's improved his shot from 3, and ball handling.

[player_tooltip player_id='1703096' first='Elias' last='Obenyah'] 6'3 2026 G/W, Salesian College Prep

It was a good day to show California, and college coaches court side what we in NorCal already knew. Obenyah is a rising prospect regardless of his 2026 class status. The long arm Obenyah has a good set of skills that will only get better. He delivered key buckets during a stretch when the Pride was struggling. He was fouled, converted the bucket and made his free throw late to retake the lead 51-49. He had 15 point, 4 rebounds.

[player_tooltip player_id='1140161' first='Alvin' last='Loving'] 6'3 2025 G/F/W, Salesian College Prep

Loving just seems to get the job done, what ever the job he's tasked with. It's hard to pin-point a position for him. He has quality handles, good passing, he can score inside/out, he can knock down the corner 3. In the title game standing 6'3 and a strong body, he had the most success disrupting Harvard-Westlake' size advantage in the post down the stretch.

[player_tooltip player_id='1510766' first='Aaron' last='Claytor'] 6'3 2024 PG, Salesian College Prep

Every Championship caliber team needs a floor general who can run the show up top. Claytor fits the role for the Pride. He facilitates in half-court, an excellent passer in transition. His court vision, and decision making seems to indicate he's a step ahead in seeing the play develop. He'll get every body going, he knows when to look for his shot. He can score late, in the crunch.

[player_tooltip player_id='1314344' first='Zander' last='Jimenez'] 6'2 2024 Guard, Salesian College Prep.

Jimenez gets defensive player of the game in the finals. His second half commitment to defending the #4 ranked player in California simply can't be ignored. He didn't shut him down, he made uncomfortable, worked him hard up top with denials, bumping, quick feet, forcing him to take contested shots when he did get into the paint. He hit key free throws down the stretch to seal the deal.

[player_tooltip player_id='1382858' first='Ryan' last='Pettis'] 6'4 2024 Guard, Serra (NorCal)

Pettis continues to attract DI attention, he helped lead Serra to the title game with his play throughout the 3 day event. Serra fell short in the title game. He can play fast or slow things down and facilitate in the half-court. His speed, change of direction with the ball makes it hard to stay in front of him. He can knock down big shots from 3, or pull-up on the dime for a mid-range. He might be underrated as a defender. He's a good passer with vision.

[player_tooltip player_id='1572964' first='Mark' last='Lavrenov'] 6'7 2025 F/PF/C, Rocklin

He can be a problem if you don't have a body that can match his somewhat physical play in the paint. He's active, and knows how to use his body in the post area. He goes after rebounds, doesn't minded bumping you, he has good foot work in the post to score. He showed he can do some things away from the basket, he used a two dribble drive, and put up a 3ptr from the top. He's a rising prospect.

[player_tooltip player_id='1776801' first='Elijah' last='Perryman'] 6'3 2025 Guard, Clayton Valley Charter

Perryman turned heads with his overall play throughout the tournament with his combo guard qualities. He mixed running the team up top with quality handles, good passing, and decision making, before using his individual skills. He can create for himself using speed, crossover dribbles, and change of direction to get to his spots. His penetration into the paint for points or kick-outs is hard to defend.

[player_tooltip player_id='1253220' first='James' last='Moore'] 6'2 2024 Guard, Clayton Valley Charter

Moore is a high flying guard that swoops in for for buckets around the rim because of his hang time. He has strong drives into the paint kind of fearless on the attack. He's a go to player when they need a bucket. He hit a 3ptr at the buzzer before the half. With his lift he has a consistent hard to block mid-range jumper.
