Another big day of hoops for teams and prospects across the state of Illinois. The Riverside Brookfield Shootout continued with another full day of action. Here I dive into what I saw in Riverside Brookfield: Scotty B's Saturday Notebook!

Munoz Tip In At Buzzer Wins it for Whitney Young to Start Day

The day started off with a thriller as Whitney Young scored a 49-48 W over Lake Park on a tip in at the buzzer by their star [player_tooltip player_id='1385300' first='Antonio' last='Munoz']. The bouncy forward displayed his versatility on both ends in this one. Was good as a shot blocker and had several steals. Crashed the glass well on both ends too. [player_tooltip player_id='1552475' first='Marquis' last='Clark'] is a 2026 guard that ranks toward the top of the class. Ultra smooth playmaking guard that is quick off the bounce and turns defense into offense getting steals.

The leading scorer in the contest was Lake Park's [player_tooltip player_id='1764717' first='Camden' last='Cerese'] who netted 25 points. The combo guard was on point with his creativity off the bounce scoring on sweeping layups, blowing past defenders, and making tough mid-range jumpers. D2s are starting to offer and we can see low-majors not far behind.

Downers Grove North Looks Dominant Behind Stanton's Lights Out Shooting

Next up was an absolute show by Downers Grove North winning 87-43 over a fellow team that made it to Champaign last year in East St. Louis. For DGN they got a monster outing from their star [player_tooltip player_id='1285524' first='Jack' last='Stanton'] as he poured in 28 points. The state's premier shooter had it rolling off the catch and movement draining them in bunches along with elevating over defenders for crisp mid-range jumpers and scoring on backcuts. [player_tooltip player_id='1507492' first='Alex' last='Miller'] and [player_tooltip player_id='2104960' first='Owen' last='Thulin'] also poured in several threes a piece while [player_tooltip player_id='1285493' first='Jake' last='Riemer'] controlled the paint with his high-point rebounding, rim running shot blocking, and even got involved in the three point barrage.

[player_tooltip player_id='1750704' first='Davis' last='Bynum'] has been a prospect on our radar since last season as he had a strong junior campaign showing flashes. He has caught the attention of college coaches with his feathery three point shot and 18 footer. Poured in 13 points in the loss for East St. Louis at 6'7” as a face up four. Also like the potential of [player_tooltip player_id='1766471' first='Arlandis' last='Brown']. Projectable 2025 wing that made turnaround jumpers, put backs, and hit a corner three. Another 2024 to track is [player_tooltip player_id='1978581' first='Taylor' last='Powell']. Broad shouldered three man that has a stellar mid-range game and has potential as a defender.

Riverside Brookfield Tops Marian Catholic in Battle of 2024 Bigs

We then took in a battle of 2024 posts between Riverside Brookfield's [player_tooltip player_id='1285519' first='Stefan' last='Cicic'] and Marian Catholic's [player_tooltip player_id='1157221' first='James' last='Bullock']. Riverside Brookfield scored the win 49-45. Cicic did a nice job on the interior using his wide frame to score in the paint with hook shots and power moves. Also hit a top of the key three. Rebounds well in his area and passes effectively for a five man. Scored 10 points. Small college sleeper [player_tooltip player_id='1598774' first='Steven' last='Brown'] led the scoring for RB as he went for 14 points showing a plus pull up game from two and three with his compact build.

Face up five [player_tooltip player_id='1157221' first='James' last='Bullock'] more than proved he could stretch the floor with his shooting from two and three while protecting the rim. Finished with 11 points.

Homewood Flossmoor Dominates St. Ignatius

HF looked very good in a 71-39 victory against St. Ignatius. The Vikings were led by a breakout performance from 2025 6'5” small forward Dominic Pangallo. The big and physical wing is quite a shot maker hitting three from distance on his way to 15 points. Power 2024 wing [player_tooltip player_id='1488791' first='Carson' last='Brownfield'] is a straight bucket getter. The rising senior is a crisp mid-range shooter that can score downhill netting 14 points. Point guard [player_tooltip player_id='1774274' first='Jayden' last='Tyler'] is a scoring guard at 5'11” that brings energy with his shooting, acrobatics at the rim, and playmaking scoring 12 points.

St. Ignatius 2025 shooting guard [player_tooltip player_id='1385292' first='Phoenix' last='Gill'] netted 12 points with a lot of his points coming drawing fouls off the bounce.

De La Salle Looks Like Catholic League Title Contender

Really liked what we saw from De La Salle as the Meteors scored an impressive 72-55 win against Bartlett. Sleeper senior guard [player_tooltip player_id='1978603' first='Bryant' last='Hedrick'] led the way with 20 points. Small college gem is high-motor guard that rebounds well and finishes in the paint while also connecting on three triples. His teammate with the Chicago Demons during the spring [player_tooltip player_id='1978578' first='Alioune' last='Mbaye'] has so many intriguing tools. The four man has a sweet right handed hook shot, is super active on the offensive glass, and can stretch the floor with his shooting scoring 13 points. Their two more highly ranked 2024 prospects [player_tooltip player_id='1285485' first='Richard' last='Lindsey'] and [player_tooltip player_id='1285484' first='Tavariyuan' last='Williams'] also had their moments. Lindsey is a two guard that has a strong and athletic build. Can score from all over the floor, but is at his best attacking off the bounce and getting in the mid-range as he had 10 points. Williams is a projectable 3/4 man that had a couple slick takes and knocked in a three en route to 9 points. The Meteors have some youth to track long term in 2026 duo point guard [player_tooltip player_id='1845364' first='Morgan' last='Travis'] and small forward [player_tooltip player_id='1552445' first='Charles' last='Barnes']. Travis got to the rim with a nice finishing game for 14 points while Barnes displayed his versatility on both ends working well from the mid-post in for 8 points.

On the otherside it was all about [player_tooltip player_id='1285489' first='Kelton' last='McEwen'] for Bartlett. The 2024 point guard got super hot from distance in this one as he notched 23 point scorching the nets including seven triples. Deep range on his shot and displayed a solid passing feel.

2025 Star Gill Wows Coaches in Loss to Batavia

We caught the last part of this thriller as Batavia defeated St. Ignatius 54-53 with a pair of prospects having big outings. Batavia 2025 small forward [player_tooltip player_id='1295579' first='Jax' last='Abalos'] presents plus size, skill, and shot making as he went for 20 points in the win. On the other side contender for the top 2025 spot [player_tooltip player_id='1385292' first='Phoenix' last='Gill'] completely took over the game in the final minutes scoring off the dribble at will, hitting clutch jumpers, and impacting with his defense in a 32 point outing where he looked like an absolute star.

St. Laurence Scores Intense W Against Curie

This was definitely the most intense game of the day as the east gym hosted a battle of St. Laurence and Curie who are both super talented squads. St. Laurence won 56-51 in the hotly contested game. Iowa State commit and the #2 rising senior in Illinois [player_tooltip player_id='1157223' first='Nojus' last='Indrusaitis'] was fantastic in our first viewing of him with his new team. Had the three ball flowing along with slick takes including putting defenders in the spin cycle for scores on his way to 21 points. His fellow top 10 senior [player_tooltip player_id='1157226' first='Josh' last='Pickett'] did a nice job getting others involved with his passing, using his size to impact defensively, and scored 9 points. Two of their D1 juniors also contributed to the win with [player_tooltip player_id='1766462' first='Zerrick' last='Johnson'] going for 9 points and [player_tooltip player_id='1550741' first='Jacob' last='Rice'] netting 11 points displaying his shot making.

Liked what we saw from Curie small forward [player_tooltip player_id='1157209' first='Will' last='Gonzalez']. The long and lanky wing has point-forward ability with his passing feel. In this one it was his improved three point shot that caught our attention as he hit three of them on his way to 11 points. Power combo guard [player_tooltip player_id='1157211' first='Carlos' last='Harris'] finished through contact scoring most of his points in the paint for 9 points.

Brother Rice Trio Impresses in Win Over Rich Township

Brother Rice got a nice 64-58 win against Rich Township. Senior guard [player_tooltip player_id='1436161' first='Cale' last='Cosme'] dropped 17 points in the win. Such a fun player to watch that can really shoot it from distance as he hit five triples for 17 points. Long and lanky 2025 wing [player_tooltip player_id='1545120' first='Marcos' last='Gonzales'] flashed his upside with some sweeping takes and transition scores along with nice passes for 11 points. Class of 2025 four man [player_tooltip player_id='1373444' first='Zavier' last='Fitch'] caught the attention of coaches with his play. Great frame and athleticism up front finishing off everything out of the dunker spot for 17 points.

[player_tooltip player_id='2104984' first='Samar' last='Bures'] was the top performer for Rich Township. Point guard is a wiry bucket getter with shifty handles and range on his shot as he had 17 points.

Roberts Shows Passing Flair for Joliet West

We only caught the beginning of Joliet West's game, but potential 2026 transfer and contender for the top spot in the class [player_tooltip player_id='1845363' first='Rajan' last='Roberts'] looked good meshing with the Tigers. Kid can really score, but it was his passing that caught our attention as he dropped an array of sweet dishes.

Metea Valley Ready to Make Noise with Size, Versatility, and Shooting

This game featured a lot of upside talent. Jake Nosek is a 6'8” five man that was lethal from distance as he connected on six from beyond the arc. Keep tabs on this 2025 post! Like what 2024 small forward [player_tooltip player_id='1978583' first='Will' last='Ashford'] brings with his versatility. [player_tooltip player_id='1937956' first='Alex' last='Danehl'] is a big wing that has skill and toughness notching 18 points.

On the other side Lane Tech [player_tooltip player_id='1373439' first='Shaheed' last='Solebo'] showed off his scoring pop going for 24 points. The small forward is a lefty that can score with burst off the bounce and has a plus three point shot as he hit four from beyond the arc.

Kankakee 2026 Shows Promise

We caught Kankakee's complete obliteration of St. Rita next 81-36. The reason we wanted to check this one out was 2026 shooting guard [player_tooltip player_id='2105360' first='Lincoln' last='Williams']. Long and rangy two guard that was impactful defensively cutting passing lanes, scoring in transition, and flashed a jumper in a 16 point performance. Another sophomore [player_tooltip player_id='1874852' first='Myair' last='Thompson'] caught our attention as the lefty 2026 prospect showed creativity off the dribble and a crisp jump shot as he had 15 points. Eli Stipp is a big man that has good mobility and feel around the basket racking up 13 points. Point guard [player_tooltip player_id='1464072' first='Larenz' last='Walters'] continued his strong tournament with a 13 point outing.

Belleville East Finishes Day with W Against West Aurora

In the final game of the evening we saw Belleville East win 58-53 against West Aurora. Belleville East 2025 big man [player_tooltip player_id='2105171' first='Savion' last='Mitchell'] came out of nowhere as we don't remember him from last season and didn't see him at all during the spring. The 6'6” four man showed promise finishing out of the dunker spot, on rolls, and drained a pair of threes while also protecting the rim and rebounding well for 15 points. Nate Smith is a big wing with skill that can score from all over the floor including a pair of triples and snatched rebounds on his way to 12 points.

[player_tooltip player_id='1545116' first='Terrence' last='Smith'] had a monster week after an up and down sophomore campaign. The 6'5” small forward totally looks the part of a mid-major plus prospect with his elite athleticism and burst off the bounce for spectacular slams. Burst with he rock on takes and won on slashes with straight line takes and spins for 13 points.
