Kayden is a difference maker on both ends of the floor for Minnesota Select. He just makes hustle plays to help lead his team to wins, and on Sunday that included a win in the 17u championship game. Early on he slid in to take a charge, and also came flying in for a putback bucket in traffic. Kayden consistently makes those extra effort plays that can be the difference in tight games. He guards bigger than his size, is a strong rebounder, and is an efficient finisher who makes the most of his touches in the paint.
Minnesota Chill rolled to a big win on Saturday morning, and their size was a big reason why. Fitz may not have been putting up huge scoring numbers, but he was dominant as a rim protector and rebounder. He’s agile at his size and quick off the floor allowing him to slide into position off the ball and elevate to block/alter shots around the basket. Fitz uses his strong frame to his advantage to box out after a shot goes up, clearing out space before attacking the ball off the rim. Closed out the first half by flying in for a putback bucket and added in a few strong finishes throughout the game.
Also delivering in the win for Minnesota Chill was Elijah Barrett Elijah Barrett 6’4″ | PF Tartan | 2024 State MN . Barrett is a bruiser in the paint who can also play with some finesse. He showcased both of those sides on one play as he caught away from the rim, backed his man down into deep position, and then hit him with a quick spin move before kissing it in off the glass for two points. Had some really nice flashes of post play as he’s able to create his own looks when left isolated on the block. Also a strong rebounder with the strength to hold his position when defending on the block.
Highlights
Daniel had a nice showing in the 16u title game for Minnesota Select. At 6’7 he has a solid frame and good patience on the block allowing him to make smart decisions. If he senses a double-team coming he’s able to kick it out to an open guard, but if left isolated Daniel has the ability to make a quick move and get a high percentage look at the rim. Can go inside for a hook shot, or spin baseline and finish off the glass. Pick & roll threat because of his coordination to catch and finish on the move at 6’7.
At 6’6 Anthony has some traits of a forward and some traits of a wing that make him a versatile prospect in the 2024 class. Against the MN Falcons he had a sequence where he pulled in a rebound, took a few dribbles up the court, passed it ahead, and then continued sprinting up the floor as he caught a pass and rose up for a two handed dunk. The lefty does a great job of getting his balance and playing off two feet around the basket, allowing him to finish at a high percentage inside. Anthony handles the ball well at 6’6, guards a variety of positions, and can stretch the floor with his shooting touch.
Tysen has impressed me all spring with his skill level at 6’7. In a quarterfinals matchup with MN Crossfire he got off to a hot start with his ability to score inside and out. Had a strong finish at the rim, drained a pair of threes, and hit a one dribble pull-up from mid-range to get himself going in the first half. The jumper cooled off in the second, but he did a nice job of getting low-post position and creating an angle for his guards to get him the ball leading to a couple of strong finishes at the rim.
Bennett was playing up a year at the 16u level with 3ND, and made an impact as a physical inside presence. He did a great job of establishing deep position before the ball even came to him, making it that much easier to get a good look once he was fed the ball. Has a strong frame and wide shoulders allowing him to make a strong pivot over either shoulder and finish right at the rim. Name to know in North Dakota’s 2026 class.
