Tysen has impressed me all spring with his skill level at 6’7. In a quarterfinals matchup with MN Crossfire he got off to a hot start with his ability to score inside and out. Had a strong finish at the rim, drained a pair of threes, and hit a one dribble pull-up from mid-range to get himself going in the first half. The jumper cooled off in the second, but he did a nice job of getting low-post position and creating an angle for his guards to get him the ball leading to a couple of strong finishes at the rim.

Tysen proved to be better than I knew of heading into the weekend, as he put in a pair of strong performances in the games I watched for BSB. At 6’7 he has the strength to play on the low-block where he had no problem establishing deep position and then backing his man down before finishing with a right handed hook shot. Even when being guarded by a 6’8 post with long arms, Tysen went right at him to score down low. Against ET21 Buckeyes he knocked down four 3’s, showcasing his shooting touch away from the basket. Could also draw out opposing bigs and then had the handle and athleticism to beat them off the dribble and get to the rim. Tysen rebounds the ball hard and can either find a quick outlet pass, but also has the ability to put the ball on the floor and bring it up himself if there’s some space. Impressive weekend from the 6’7 forward out of St. Paul Academy.

Tysen was another player who stood out in the day’s 8am matchup. Any time he caught on the block he was looking to go right at his man, able to use his strength to get into deep position before turning over his left shoulder to finish with a soft hook shot. Good low-post player but also showed he can handle the ball in the open floor in a way that not every big can. Had a near double-double using his frame to clear out space and pull in 8 rebounds to go with his 15 points in a win.
