This past weekend was the second weekend of live period action, and many college coaches, fans and I descended upon Forsyth Country Day for the NCISAA Showcase, Week 2. Check out a few of the top guards that I saw this weekend, from top recruits to some unheralded guys.

He knocked down multiple jump shots off the dribble and was really forcing defenders to play in gaps and help off their men, opening up other lanes and opportunities for the whole team. He attacked the rim hard as well. Defensively he was constantly working, with a high motor and active hands that allowed him to get deflections and steals. I thought he could be a good piece for D2s and D3s with his size and ability to shoot the ball, potentially being a 3 and D 2 guard at the next level.","_player_evaluations_0_evaluation":"field_62aba51aecf34","player_evaluations_1_not_in_database":["not_in_db"],"_player_evaluations_1_not_in_database":"field_62aba48cecf2d","player_evaluations_1_player_details_selected_featured_image":"","_player_evaluations_1_player_details_selected_featured_image":"field_62cca28ffa4e7","player_evaluations_1_player_details_player_name":"Brandon Ravin","_player_evaluations_1_player_details_player_name":"field_62aba4c9ecf2f","player_evaluations_1_player_details_graduating_class":"2026","_player_evaluations_1_player_details_graduating_class":"field_62aba4ddecf30","player_evaluations_1_player_details_height":"5'11u0022","_player_evaluations_1_player_details_height":"field_62aba4e8ecf31","player_evaluations_1_player_details_position":"77248","_player_evaluations_1_player_details_position":"field_62aba4f0ecf32","player_evaluations_1_player_details_school":"Providence Day School","_player_evaluations_1_player_details_school":"field_62aba4fdecf33","player_evaluations_1_player_details_club_team":"","_player_evaluations_1_player_details_club_team":"field_62d20e723441a","player_evaluations_1_player_details":"","_player_evaluations_1_player_details":"field_62aba4afecf2e","player_evaluations_1_evaluation":"Ravin was a big part in his teams win over Greensboro Day, knocking down multiple threes and playing with a real passion and confidence. The undersized 2 guard has a lefty stroke, and it's quick and pretty. He came off screens and spaced the perimeter well, allowing for him to capitalize off his teams paint touches and drill great looks. He's got improvement to do in the ball handling department, but his ability to let it fly is going to make him a super important piece for this Providence Day team that is reloading strongly. He should be good for 3 threes a night in season.","_player_evaluations_1_evaluation":"field_62aba51aecf34","player_evaluations_2_player":["1280938"],"_player_evaluations_2_player":"field_62ab9d62ecf2c","player_evaluations_2_override_profile_image":"","_player_evaluations_2_override_profile_image":"override-player-profile-image","player_evaluations_2_not_in_database":"","_player_evaluations_2_not_in_database":"field_62aba48cecf2d","player_evaluations_2_evaluation":"Many are starting to take notice of [player_tooltip player_id='1280938' first='Kobe' last='Edwards'] beyond the Hoop State, and this weekend was just another example of why he deserves all that attention and more. He was such a solid floor general, playing with a tempo and energy that gave off freshman in college, not freshman in high school. The game moves slowly for him, allowing him to both find teammates and attack himself. He's leading the offense well and communicates in order to get everyone set up and running as a unit. Getting better as a shooter as well. Defensively he's very feisty and gives great ball pressure without fouling. He's got solid length to be able to disrupt other guards. He's going to have a huge year at Greenfield, and I'm excited to watch his development further.","_player_evaluations_2_evaluation":"field_62aba51aecf34","player_evaluations_3_player":["1411079"],"_player_evaluations_3_player":"field_62ab9d62ecf2c","player_evaluations_3_override_profile_image":"","_player_evaluations_3_override_profile_image":"override-player-profile-image","player_evaluations_3_not_in_database":"","_player_evaluations_3_not_in_database":"field_62aba48cecf2d","player_evaluations_3_evaluation":"Edwards is on the smaller side, but was assertive and a presence for WCDS this weekend. He was in charge, bringing the ball up and dictating the tempo for the team. While I thought he could have pushed a little harder with his quickness and speed, he did a good job staying in control and keeping the ball secure. He does a really good job at finding teammates and picking apart the defense. I'd say he's a pass first guard, but still does a good job attacking the 6-14 feet range of the floor and getting good looks from there. He's a smaller, high academic guard that should be a worthy fit for D3 schools in the region.","_player_evaluations_3_evaluation":"field_62aba51aecf34","player_evaluations_4_player":["1277989"],"_player_evaluations_4_player":"field_62ab9d62ecf2c","player_evaluations_4_override_profile_image":"","_player_evaluations_4_override_profile_image":"override-player-profile-image","player_evaluations_4_not_in_database":"","_player_evaluations_4_not_in_database":"field_62aba48cecf2d","player_evaluations_4_evaluation":"When I watch [player_tooltip player_id='1277989' first='Matt' last='Kirby'], I always think u0022winneru0022. He is so talented from an intangible perspective, never getting rattled or discouraged when his team is down. I noticed in their game against Cannon on Saturday how he was the most calm and composed guy on the floor after a series of poor calls and chippy play. This keeps his level of play consistent at all times, and his slashing and passing game is simple but effective. He attacks downhill with toughness and consistency, drawing fouls and getting layups. Also has good instincts defensively, trying to get in passing lanes well and moving his feet to cut off drivers. He's going to be a D2/D3 guy just due to his size, but whoever takes him is getting a leader, winner, and good point guard to boot.","_player_evaluations_4_evaluation":"field_62aba51aecf34","player_evaluations_5_player":["854907"],"_player_evaluations_5_player":"field_62ab9d62ecf2c","player_evaluations_5_override_profile_image":"","_player_evaluations_5_override_profile_image":"override-player-profile-image","player_evaluations_5_not_in_database":"","_player_evaluations_5_not_in_database":"field_62aba48cecf2d","player_evaluations_5_evaluation":"Will Otto is always a fun player to watch, a good point guard with great size and comfortable handling the ball. He's not insanely athletic, but makes up for it with great feel and decision-making. It's the consistency of good reads he makes, not the amazing passes or amazing ones he picks out every so often. He's always driving with a head up looking to pass out to teammates, and did a lot of damage getting low on the court and flinging the ball out for open jumpers. He can get to the rim with some toughness, and I didn't see him shoot any jumpers on the day. He's a great pass-first guy to add to a teams guard rotation with the potential for his offensive scoring game to continue developing as well.","_player_evaluations_5_evaluation":"field_62aba51aecf34","player_evaluations_6_player":["1410267"],"_player_evaluations_6_player":"field_62ab9d62ecf2c","player_evaluations_6_override_profile_image":"","_player_evaluations_6_override_profile_image":"override-player-profile-image","player_evaluations_6_not_in_database":"","_player_evaluations_6_not_in_database":"field_62aba48cecf2d","player_evaluations_6_evaluation":"Rivens was an electric scorer every game for his group this weekend, solidifying his status as a big name in the 2025 class. He scored the ball efficiently at multiple spots on the court, including from deep and in the mid-range. He showed good touch on his jumpers and was able to get good quality shots off the bounce and the catch. The offense flowed through him, but he didn't tend to hold the ball for too long and stagnate the team as a whole. He's really solid as a scorer and focal point in an offense, but can see him thriving as a second or third option at a higher level. He's a guy to monitor through the summer and during the high school year.","_player_evaluations_6_evaluation":"field_62aba51aecf34","player_evaluations":7,"_player_evaluations":"field_62aba7547dc44"},"mode":"preview","alignText":"left","anchor":"acf-block-64984a503de49"} /-->
