Charlie Birk Charlie Birk 6'6" | PF Eagan | 2024 State MN of Eagan (6’6/6’7 Forward). What I did not expect was Birk aggressively looking for his offense in this event but that is what we saw . And the rate at which he was hitting perimeter shots and scoring some active buckets as a stretch forward, it surely opened eyes. Took another step this weekend.
DeMarcus Burks of Lakeville South (6’2/6’3 Guard). Burks has always had the physical gifts to be a college scholarship basketball player. But what we are seeing now is Burks playing very hard and putting those gifts to use. He has the potential to be a special defender and we are starting to see that. He’s also rebounding, cutting hard, and scoring in active ways in addition to the skill work he’s previously shown. The potential is there to be a full scholarship player and we are seeing him put the gifts to use.
DeAndre Holloway DeAndre Holloway 6'7" | PF KMS | 2024 State MN of K-M-S (6’7 Forward). I would love to know DeAndre’s reach because he had to have had one of the longest reaches in this entire event. Sure DeAndre is inexperienced, he is raw in skill work, and his jumper needs some form work. But when you go against Jaden Morgan Jaden Morgan 6'4" | SG DeLaSalle | 2024 State MN , Abe Soumis, Chase Thompson Chase Thompson 6'8" | PF Alexandria | 2025 State #216 Nation MN , Kyle Jorgensen Kyle Jorgensen 6'9" | C Minneapolis Washburn | 2024 State #308 Nation MN , and Jackson McAndrew Jackson McAndrew 6'10" | PF Wayzata | 2024 State #24 Nation MN and you outscore all of those players and outrebound all of those players even for a half, people take notice. And word is he was a sponge taking in coaching this weekend. And the biggest thing, I watched a lot of good prospects not be able to move their feet and get length on McAndrew’s attempts. Holloway did get length to this attempts forcing four misses in Jackson’s first six shots. That says a lot.
Kyson Leenderts Kyson Leenderts 6'7" | PF Rosemount | 2024 State MN of Rosemount (6’6 Forward). Kyson did some things on the move as a forward this weekend that caught my eye. It was running the floor to finish, it was a one step to the rim completion before the rather large help arrived, it was the ability to defensively cover ground on ball screens and help spots around the rim. He’s got more potential than I first thought.
Hanif Muhammed of Breck (6’1 Point Guard). At this point we may as well reserve a monthly spot for Hanif in these stock riser articles. Hanif continues to play well and produce in efficient ways and he continues to do it in impressive ways against some of the better guards in the state. There is no way I’m going to try and put a ceiling on what he could be as Hanif is a two way player that coaches are loving.
Shaun Wysocki Shaun Wysocki 6'7" | SF Rochester Century | 2024 State MN of Rochester Century (6’7 Small Forward). Defended forwards with division one scholarship offers in Minnesota and stopped them from getting good looks. Shaun moved his feet with those players and got length on them. Shaun used a dribble against those players successfully. He scored in double figures and out-rebounded those players. If you can do that at 6’7 and athletic with a high ceiling….. that usually means you can do that in college with those players at a similar level. Plays above the rim and I don’t just mean dunking, I mean getting lift to finish over length, I mean rebounding off the rim, and contesting shots at rim level.
