Smith and Trojans Finish 2-0:

[player_tooltip player_id='1038227' first='RJ' last='Simmons'] led the way today for the Trojans with his play. Backcourt mate guard [player_tooltip player_id='1038226' first='Montreal' last='Jenkins'] joined in on the fun. [player_tooltip player_id='2044293' first='Gavin' last='Ward'] is a sharp-shooting guard who came out on fire from the get go for the Trojans.

Could this be 5A Lower State Matchup Moving Forward?

Summerville HS vs Conway HS here today matched up to Class 5A programs from the Lower State. Could these team be meeting come next February in Florence? The Green Wave were without the services of [player_tooltip player_id='1103872' first='Yannick' last='Smith']. Smith recently named his Top 5 schools for football. Liberty University, East Carolina University, UAB, Charlotte and James Madison University.

The trio of [player_tooltip player_id='1265263' first='Melvin' last='Teal Jr']. [player_tooltip player_id='1578670' first='Warren' last='Nelson'] and [player_tooltip player_id='2044348' first='Kenneth' last='Brown'] led the charge today for the Green Wave. Teal Jr is an overpowering guard who understands on how to use his body on the way to the basket. Melvin touches the paint at will or simply will pull-up for a nice mid-range jumper.

Nelson has had a good few weeks of play for the Green Wave. Warren is ultimate glue guy for this squad. Nelson was able to score the ball from downtown and at the rim today on putbacks. Warren brings an All-OUT HUSTLE attitude to the floor.

Brown was the sharpshooter from downtown today. He connected on several three pointers and was constantly ready to receive the rock with a quick shot release.

Can Tigers Get Back to Lower State Championship Game?

The Conway HS Tigers lost to Goose Creek HS last season in the Lower State Championship Game in Florence. The Tigers (27-2) return several players including [player_tooltip player_id='1016448' first='Devin' last='Grainger']. Grainger a left-handed downhill combo guard returns to the lineup again this season for Head Coach Mike Hopkins. Grainger a Quarterback on the football field has picked up some football offers this past off season.

[player_tooltip player_id='1032756' first='Javion' last='Crawford'] is going to need to setup down in the paint for the Tigers this season. Crawford a junior post player could be a rim protector down the road.

[player_tooltip player_id='1824185' first='Jordan' last='Jenkins'] and point guard [player_tooltip player_id='2044349' first='Trevon' last='Johnson'] will both provide a punch from the sophomore class. Jenkins a good-sized wing player show some glimpses last season while Johnson looks to be the point guard of the future.

Lions Starting Over:

The Loris HS Lions will have a new look to them this coming season. The Lions lost several players to the new Atlantic Collegiate Academy in Myrtle Beach for this coming season.

Ramsey and Cross HS Trojans Could Surprise Some Folks:

[player_tooltip player_id='1498248' first='Caden' last='Ramsey'] might have a bright future in football but he surely isn't a bad hooper though. Ramsey a wide receiver on the gridiron has great hands and a willingness to finish around the cup. Caden plays with some toughness and swagger for the Trojans.

[player_tooltip player_id='1555867' first='Jamez' last='Way'] and [player_tooltip player_id='2044353' first='Micah' last='Flute'] will provide plenty of support to the Cross HS Trojans cause this season. Way a senior guard a wide receiver in the fall likes to slash to the rack.

Flute is a RAW talent down in the paint. Micah looks to swat away anything thrown in his direction. The long-rangy forward is very bouncy. He runs the floor effortlessly.

Chuck Town Area Notables in Attendance:

[player_tooltip player_id='1135989' first='Kai' last='Murdock'] - Wando HS (Mount Pleasant)

Murdock brings great versatility to the floor for the Warriors. He can handle the rock up the floor in transition. Kai was able to connect on some three-point bombs here today. He plays extremely active on the defensive end of the floor where from time to time he will swat away some shots.

[player_tooltip player_id='1172574' first='Dru' last='Goldsmith'] - Hanahan HS

Goldsmith and the Hawks were a bit short-handed today for Head Coach Rob Mammes. Goldsmith a football player in the fall recently just returned the University of South Carolina Football Camp. Dru can race to the cup and get by defenders in the process.

[player_tooltip player_id='1343999' first='Jahlil' last='Hope'] - Ashley Ridge HS (Summerville)

Hope is a bit of tweener on the floor for the Swamp Foxes. He connected on some short jumpers today and rebounded the ball well on both ends of the floor. Jahlil will be relied on to carry the offense this season for Head Coach Brad Dobbels.

Blue Grass State Represented:

The Whitley County HS Colonels from Williamsburg, KY were in attendance playing here today at the Bear Jam. The Colonels finished (21-10) last season under Head Coach Eric Swords.

The Colonels will look for leadership this season from two seniors. Bryce Anderson and Dre Ellis will lead the charge.

Anderson Helped the Colonels baseball team to a KHSAA State Championship this past spring. Bryce a combo guard saw the floor well and was able to push the tempo at times. Anderson was able to slash to the cup at will today.

Ellis is a spot up shooter who does his best work when he has time to set his feet. The slender-sleek Ellis was able to connect on some three-pointers from downtown. Dre really likes to work from the corners with his shot.
