Orono. Orono made a "we aren't going anywhere" statement this weekend winning three games. Of course nobody thought they were going anywhere to be honest as they have talent, but beating Mankato East by two, beating BSM by three scores, and then beating Stewartville but a couple baskets, nice run of winning three close games. I thought [player_tooltip player_id='1484016' first='Brady' last='Wooley'] and [player_tooltip player_id='1579885' first='Nolan' last='Groves'] both looked good when I watched the Spartans.

Stewartville. When it comes to returning talent in Class AAA basketball the Tigers rank with the best. Stewartville went to state last year and beating Delano and Alexandria were quality accomplishments. The [player_tooltip player_id='1434064' first='Tegan' last='Malone'], [player_tooltip player_id='1198613' first='Parker' last='Wangen'], [player_tooltip player_id='1476739' first='Caleb' last='Bancroft'], Caleb Jannsen, [player_tooltip player_id='1288690' first='Ayden' last='Helder'], and [player_tooltip player_id='1139594' first='Henry' last='Tschetter'] core is still there. Now, is that core ready for a run at the highest level? They got a taste of it last weekend along with a taste of what they need to do to get over the hump.

Alexandria. Grabbing third place in the event with [player_tooltip player_id='1284138' first='Grayson' last='Grove'] not available after ankle surgery is eye opening. The Cards got a strong effort from [player_tooltip player_id='1572690' first='Chase' last='Thompson'] as the go to guy and they beat South St. Paul and BSM while giving Stewartville a run in a two score game.

Delano. After losing to Stewartville, Delano rebounded with wins over South St. Paul and Mankato East. Beating the Cougars is a big take home for Delano who will have some of the most talented guards in Class AAA basketball.

Benidle-St. Margaret's. BSM beat St. Cloud Tech before losing to Orono and Alexandria. [player_tooltip player_id='1572689' first='Jalen' last='Wilson'] was at Elite 100 camp so BSM was without him and a few other key guys so this was BSM missing about half of their returning rotation players from a year ago.

Mankato East. I did not get to see East play so I don't know what they had full roster wise. They did lose a one score game to Orono and then lost to Delano by nine so those are games that are going to sting. Tough to judge without knowing what their rotation was.

St. Cloud Tech. Tech took the floor without their top guy in [player_tooltip player_id='1284214' first='Tameron' last='Ferguson'] plus they just lost two starters to transfer so it was a lot of new bodies competing. They lost to BSM and Mankato East by double digits (the final game with SSP does not have a winner recorded on the final bracket).

South St. Paul. Everybody kept texting me "who is playing for SSP" during the event and I didn't get a chance to see them although I heard they've had a number of young guys that were not there. They lost to Alex by ten, lost to Delano in a two score game, and then the final game with Tech did not have a result recorded.
