Continue ReadingCompton Magic hosted their annual Memorial Day tournament this last weekend starting on Friday night in Anaheim, California and it featured some of the best 15U, 16U, and 17U teams from around the West Coast. Just some of the programs that attended this year included DreamVision, Las Vegas Punishers, and Team Lillard.
Rashod Cotton Rashod Cotton 6’2″ | CG Modesto Christian | 2026 State CA-N does an excellent job of getting into the middle of defenses, forcing them to collapse, and then creating for others. Cotton has a great first step and a tight handle that allows him to beat defenders and keep them on his hip. Rashod is also able to finish over and around bigger defenders with good touch, and attacks the basket fearlessly.
Zion Paleo Zion Paleo 5’10” | PG Orange Lutheran | 2025 CA-S is a great floor general and exactly the type of point guard who makes sure he finds whoever is open. His passing skill is so elevated that he is able to throw passes before people are even open, leading them to where they are supposed to be. Paleo also has the ability to stretch the floor as defenses have to respect his 3-point shot and has a solid mid range game to compliment it.
Eric Freeny Eric Freeny 6’5″ | SG Corona Centennial | 2024 State #73 Nation CA-S consistently makes winning basketball plays for his team. Whether its hitting the glass, making a strong off-ball cut, or hitting a corner three, Freeny is constantly positively impacting the game. Eric defends very well on the ball utilizing his good frame and strong build, and understands defensive rotations to make himself a great help defender as well. Freeny projects to be one of the better SG prospects in the So Cal area by the time he graduates.
Jermaine Washington Jr. has a tremendously quick first step, and uses it to blow by defenders and get to the rim almost at all. Jermaine shoots the ball capably from three but refining that area of his game would make him an even tougher cover than he already is. Washington Jr. is a strong help and on-ball defender and uses his instincts and understanding of the game to pick up steals and deflections.
Cameron McNamee Cameron McNamee 6’6″ | SG Santa Margarita | 2024 State CA-S possesses great length on the perimeter and uses it well to shoot over defenders from three and in the mid-range area. McNamee contributes on the glass at both ends, and kick starts his team’s offense by doing so on the defensive end.
Isaac Williamson Isaac Williamson 6’1″ | SG Riverside Poly | 2025 State #351 Nation CA-S spaces the floor well for his AAU team and is able to take advantage of the space they create by finding open cutters with passes or getting into the lane himself to score. Defensively, Williamson is a good on-ball as well as team defender who is able to jump passing lanes to create deflections and cause turnovers. Williamson will be fun to watch at Roosevelt this coming season as he gets to play with talented guards Brayden Burries Brayden Burries 6’4″ | SF Roosevelt | 2025 State #13 Nation CA-S and Darnez Slater Darnez Slater 6’1″ | PG Roosevelt | 2024 State #216 Nation CA-S after sitting out last year due to transfer rules.
Isaiah Marte Isaiah Marte 5’11” | SG San Diego | 2025 State CA-S is a dead-eye three point shooter that has defenses constantly on high alert. Marte is a tireless runner off the ball and understands how to find just enough space within a defense to get a shot off. Isaiah is capable of creating himself and others with the ball as well, adding to the list of things that opponents have to deal with playing against him.
