Some programs with an excellent jamboree were Swain County, AC Reynolds, McDowell, & Veritas Christian. Teams like Enka, North Buncombe, Avery, & Mountain Heritage are going through significant rebuilds but have some serious young talent. Here are some standouts from the teams we saw at the event.
Trent Clark
Trent Clark
is a young guard out of Weaverville, NC. is looking to have a breakout season next year. Last year he showcased his ability to produce on the varsity level. This year he will be depended on even more. He’s been a leader and playmaker for this young group today. He is super confident & shoots the ball at a high clip. Shot good percentages. Contributed 10.2 PPG, 2.8 RPG, & 1.8 APG as a freshman on varsity. Potential player of the year in the Mountain Athletic Conference. His brother Chad, a former North Buncombe standout, is committed to Southern Wesleyan University.
can fill up the stat sheet in multiple categories with his excellent playmaking abilities. He showed great poise and patience with his team as they won numerous games at the camp. He made plays to get his teammates involved and help the team win the game without scoring. Averaged 20.2 PPG, 6.8 RPG, & 3.6 APG while reaching All-Conference & All-District. Look for his recruitment to start taking off next season.
Jack Teesateskie
Jack Teesateskie
had a great showing at the team camp with his ability to handle the ball with confidence. Shot the cover off the ball. Every three that he shot was either in or looked like it was going in. He could get almost any shot he wanted off and score at all three levels on the court. Last season for Cherokee High School, he put up 12.7 PPG, 3.8 RPG, & 3.5 SPG as a freshman.
Mason Bailey
Mason Bailey
showcased a great blend of footwork and touch while playing down-low. He had multiple double-double games while being the main interior presence inside. He always gets to his spots and is in the right area at all times when the shot goes up. Put up 11.7 PPG, & 4.0 RPG last season. Expect him to make a considerable jump and have a tremendous senior season.
Jace Loven
Jace Loven
is looking to have a breakout season next year. Can flat-out shoot the ball! Like his ability to shoot off screens. He’s constantly moving without the ball & when he gets open, he makes the defense pay. He shoots a very high percentage from outside as well, shooting 37% off 27 threes during last season.
