In its 21st iteration, founder Dinos Trigonis brought together over 100 of the best high school prospects in the country to compete in the three-day event. After covering all of the action from Sunday through Tuesday let’s dive in to some major takeaways from this year’s Pangos All-American Camp.
- For the second straight year, an Indiana High School Basketball player took come MVP (or co-MVP) honors out in Las Vegas. After Xavier Booker earned the award last June, Flory Bidunga Flory Bidunga 6'9" | C Kokomo | 2024 State #7 Nation IN received the honor this time around. The 6’9″ 5-star center dominated the competition on both ends of the floor. He simply plays so much harder than everyone else in settings like this. Bidunga dunks everything offensively, crashes the glass relentless, and is a game-changer at the rim defensively. In my opinion, he should be the #1 player in the country in the Class of 2024.
- Arguably my favorite player of the week was Robert Wright III Robert Wright III 6'0" | PG Montverde Academy (FL) | 2024 State #35 Nation FL . A 6’0″ point guard out of Montverde Academy, Wright often looked the like best guard at the Pangos All-American Camp. He is a 4-star prospect committed to Baylor and looks like he will fit in nicely with Coach Scott Drew who has done a great job developing backcourt pieces. Wright is incredibly skilled with the ball in his hands and was the most impressive playmaker over the last three games.
- A high four-star prospect out of Lexington, South Carolina, Cameron Scott Cameron Scott 6'6" | SG Lexington | 2024 State #23 Nation SC looked like one of the most talented pure scorers in the country during the event. He averaged nearly 25 points per game while making 19 three-point shots. Scott is quickly trending towards Oregon after a recent official visit, but the hometown Gamecocks certainly are involved as well. He was the other co-MVP of the event
- I’ve long been high on Auburn commit Tahaad Pettiford Tahaad Pettiford 6'1" | PG Hudson Catholic | 2024 State #27 Nation NJ and that take was only confirmed over the last three days in Las Vegas. The 6’0″ point guard is one of the best shooters at the position as seen by the 19 three-pointers he made while averaging 22 points per game. The four-star prospect is going to be a perfect fit for Coach Bruce Pearl’s up-tempo style of play.
- Nobody may have done more to improve their stock nationally than Ryan Jones Ryan Jones 6'9" | PF The Rock | 2024 State #48 Nation FL at the Pangos All-American Camp. The 6’8″ four-star forward from The Rock School in Gainesville, Florida was absolutely lighting it up from beyond the arc throughout the event showcasing his ability as a pick-and-pop threat. He connected on 18 three-point shots in four games averaging 18.5 points per game. A potential stock-riser heading into live periods in June and July.
- Ahmad Nowell Ahmad Nowell 6'0" | PG Imhotep Charter | 2024 State #36 Nation PA continues to play like one of the best point guards in the country. He has been excellent for Team Final on the EYBL circuit and now the Imhotep prospect is coming off of a great three days at Pangos. The 6’1″ point guard has a strong, sturdy build but blends it with some explosiveness off of the dribble. He is an excellent playmaker who routinely sets up his teammates while also showcasing some scoring chops of his own. A 4-star, Top 50 prospect nationally, but even still a bit underrated in my opinion.
- One of the most intriguing Class of 2025 prospects from the Pangos All-American Camp was Moustapha Thiam Moustapha Thiam 7'1" | C DME Academy | 2025 State #10 Nation FL . The 7’2″ center from DME Academy in Daytona Beach moves so fluidly and showcased some real skill for a player of his size and young age. Thiam can operate out on the perimeter as a passer, screen setter, or get into handoff action. Around the basket he has the obvious size and length to finish. Impactful defender as well. Look for him to really burst onto the national rankings scene.
- After a strong spring with the PSA Cardinals on the Nike EYBL circuit, Nate Guerengomba Nate Guerengomba 6'4" | SG South Kent | 2024 State NLG continued to play well at the Pangos All-American Camp. The athletic 6’4″ guard was one of the top scorers at the event averaging 20.0 points per game including one contest where he went 9-11 from three-point range on his way to 33 points. He is a guy who could really climb the rankings and see his recruitment blow up even more over the next couple of months.
