Continue ReadingPflughaupt had a great showing on both ends of the floor in Prep’s win over Minnesota Rush, showing the ability to score from all three levels as well as defend. A long, rangy wing who can really shoot it off the catch, he’s a high upside 3-and-D wing that area Division II, NAIA, and Division III programs should be all over. He’s a great team defender who rotates well, blocks shots, and rebounds, and he’s a top-notch shooting threat who can get his shot off whenever he wants.
Highlights
An off-ball guard who shoots it at a high clip off the catch, Anderson caught fire early in Prep’s win over Minnesota Rush, knocking down a number of 3s off of good off-ball movement. He has his feet squared and ready to shoot, and has a quick release. He showed some secondary ball-handling and playmaking as well.
It’s obvious when you watch him that Wagemester is a coach’s son. He positions himself well on both ends of the floor and, like most players on this team, is a really good team defender who can provide some versatility on that end of the floor with his toughness and length. Offensively he’s a good passer and secondary ball-handler who is at his best when he’s getting to the rim.

Gerdes is a long, tough lead guard who handles it and passes it really well. He’s the initiator of the offensive attack, putting constant pressure on opposing defenders with his ability to get into the painted area, and he’s a capable shooting threat from deep. He really shines as an on-ball defender, moving his feet and using his physicality to bully opposing players.
Miller has become well known around the state for his high-scoring outbursts with Jesup, but he plays a bit of a different role with this group, acting more as a “traditional” point guard. His ability to fill it up in bunches is certainly still there, but he does a great job with this group initiating the offense and getting his teammates involved at a high level. He’s a really good ball handler and passer with excellent court vision, and he has the ability to get the defense to collapse on him and then find cutting teammates or open shooters on the wing.

Darbouze is an athletic, slashing wing who loves to attack the rim both in transition and in the halfcourt. He finishes above the rim with authority, rebounds well on both ends of the floor, and showed the ability to put the ball on the floor and create for others as well.
A 6-6/6-7 big man with great touch and footwork around the rim, Bryte (pictured) has a number of go-to moves and counter moves to use on his post touches. He runs the floor hard and establishes good early post position, using his strength to hold off the defender and finish through contact. Like Pflughaupt, he’s a good team defender who rotates into the correct spots and can protect the rim, and he’s a good enough ball-handler and passer to lead the break after pulling down a defensive rebound.
Highlights
Caton is lightning quick, and he uses that speed to his advantage on both ends of the floor. He’s a good ball-handler who keeps defenders off balance with his change of pace, handles, and a quick first step, and he’s a solid finisher around the rim. He didn’t shoot it from distance much in the game that I saw, but from watching him during the high school season, I know there is plenty of range in his arsenal. He’s a solid on-ball defender who moves his feet well and has quick hands.
