Prep Hoops made a stop at the Phenom Memorial Day Classic in Rock Hill this past weekend. This will be the last Grassroots event for the spring before players join their high school teams in the month of June. Who were some of the 2025 Top Performers from the Palmetto State we were able to watch play today? Read more inside right here and please remember to #RecruitThePalmettoState

Top Heavy of Talent Here Today:

[player_tooltip player_id='1162932' first='Treyvon' last='Maddox'], [player_tooltip player_id='1145334' first='Jordan' last='Watford'] and [player_tooltip player_id='1149799' first='Hayden' last='Assemian'] were all in attendance here today at the Phenom Memorial Day Classic. These 3 players make up the Top 3 in the 2025 Palmetto State Class Rankings.

Maddox the number #1 player in the 2025 Palmetto State Class has really done a nice job of working on his perimeter skills from behind the three-point line. Maddox a rangy athlete was all over the floor today with his play. He showed off his skill set from passing, handling the rock and shooting the ball today. Maddox really looks to work to defend and does a good job of playing active in the passing lanes. Treyvon attends Gray Collegiate in West Columbia.

Watford is another piece of the Lancaster HS Bruins program and currently ranks #2 in the 2025 Palmetto State Class. Watford will take a charge on call at times it seems. Jordan really showed off his crafty passing skills and playing extremely unselfish all day long. He really shows a variety of ways to score the ball if it's a floater, nice pull-up jumper in transition or stalking the baseline at times.

Assemian has been running all spring long with CP3 a Nike sponsored program on the Grassroots Circuit. Hayden played this past season at Legacy Early College and since has returned to Powdersville HS for next year. Assemian is a force down low with his ability to finish down low with either hand. He really does a great job of receiving everything thrown in his direction with his excellent hands. Hayden runs the floor and fills the lane in transition very well.

Thompson and King Making Strides:

[player_tooltip player_id='1149789' first='Tristan' last='Thompson'] and [player_tooltip player_id='1220039' first='Amarii' last='King'] have really seemed to pickup their games here this spring on the Grassroots Circuit. Thompson was able to finish around the rim while showing great versatility on the floor. Tristan who attends Wilson HS (Florence) rebounds the rock on both ends of the floor and has no problems defending anyone when called on to do so.

King really showed his shooting today and really started to make some shots from behind the arc. Amarri is a very tough nosed player who always seems to be right in the middle of things while on the floor. He will take a charge on command or jump on the floor for a loose ball with no slight hesitation. Amarii finished through contact on several occasions here today.

Who Else Played Well Here Today at the Phenom MDC?:

[player_tooltip player_id='1972146' first='Malachi' last='Cooper'] has had a good spring on the Grassroots Circuit with [program_tooltip program_id='2078753' first='Upward' last='Stars Columbia'] Portee. Cooper who attends Ridge View HS was able to finish several buckets on the left-side of the rim despite being right-handed. Malachi really likes to use the ball-screen at times to advance the rock to the basket. He connected on several perimeter jumpers with his ability to knockdown shots.

[player_tooltip player_id='1414885' first='Tanner' last='Macy'] plays down in the [program_tooltip program_id='2078736' first='Lowcountry' last=''] at May River HS. Macy a multi-sport athlete was here running with Elite Basketball today. Tanner made every shot he seemed to fire up today in a game vs EA Prep All-Stars.

[player_tooltip player_id='1407052' first='Amare' last='Anderson'] continues to have a good spring with Team Charlotte UAA 2025 on the Grassroots Circuit. Anderson a left-handed guard was able to attack and slash to the cup today on the offensive end. Amare takes a lot of pride in playing defense and really getting after it while on the floor. He attends Greer HS in the Upstate where he had a big sophomore season this past year.

The 2025 Palmetto State Class looks to be a good one down the road.
