Havoc in the Heartland – Kyler's 2025 Player Evals

The 2023 Prep Hoops Circuit Havoc in the Heartland is officially in the books. This past weekend many of the top teams from the Midwest and beyond descended upon Fishers and Noblesville on the north side of Indianapolis for this great event. As always, our Prep Hoops staff had boots on the ground coverage coming to you live from the moment games tipped off on Friday night until the final buzzer on Sunday afternoon. Let us take a look at some of the 2025 players that watched over the weekend and give some evaluations on how they did.    Burnett is a taller shooting guard with smoothness to his game. Shot the corner three very well and was real smooth off the catch, working well off the ball. On the defensive end, his length causes problems for the offense and he displayed great hands and got a few steals when I watched. Good amount of upside.    Ball is a tough small forward that plays so physical. Has a real tough playing style and loves to find a lane and attack and score through contact. Overall, Ball is a very versatile forward can score in many different ways and rebounds very well.    Edwards is a aggressive big with a tough motor. Is always attacking the glass and trying to grab the rebound on both ends. Really liked his motor and how hard he ran up and down the floor. He was a factor on both ends of the floor for Indiana Ambition 2025.    Is Zackery the best player on the Prep Hoops Grit Region Circuit? I think you can strongly make that case. Zackery's elite playmaking ability and athleticism was on full display in the game I saw of his. He was carving up the defensive making play after play on the ball and was so smooth and controlled with it. His defense is outstanding and his quickness and length cause major problems for the offense. He may be leaning towards playing football at the next level, but this guy is an elite basketball player as well.    Horton was one of the players that I was impressed with the most this past weekend. He worked extremely well with teammate [player_tooltip player_id='1373105' first='Mark' last='Zackery'] and showed off his elite athletic ability. When given the chance, he is almost always cutting to the basket fast and hard and trying to score above the rim. Has a great first step on the ball and is great about creating offense in the lane. Horton's stock is only going to rise and rise these next couple of years.   [player_tooltip player_id='2391235' first='Rylan' last='Schrink'] - 6'3 W 2025 - New Albany/Southern Indiana Blaze 2025:   Schrink had a real impressive showing in the game I watched of his on Saturday. Ay points in the game, he became the go to guy for Southern Indiana Blaze 2025 and was so aggressive scoring in the paint. He is a long, lanky wing with a great motor and is always working on both ends. He has upside as a 3-and-D guy as well. He could be a bright spot for New Albany moving forward.   Preston Kempf - 6'0 G 2025 - Providence/Southern Indiana Blaze 2025:   Kempf is a aggressive guard that is quick and explosive. Most of the time he is looking to attack the lane as hard as he can and if he does not have that, he making sharp passes. Really needs to work on controlling himself at times and let the game come to him. He was great for Southern Indiana Blaze down the stretch including hitting a game winner in one of their Saturday games. Tough guard overall.   Bryson Whitlock - 6'2 W 2025 - Providence/Southern Indiana Blaze 2025:   Whitlock is a true wing that has a good feel for the game. Never speeds himself up and works well off the ball. Visibly has a shooter's mentality moving to open spots and always has his hands ready to fire off a shot. Does need a little bit more improvement making plays off the dribble, but as far a catch-and-shoot wing, he is solid enough there right now.   Demetrius Phelps - 5'11 G 2025 - Charlestown/Southern Indiana Blaze 2025:   Phelps is a very quick guard that is really shifty. Was very active on both ends of the floor I thought and was really aggressive on the defensive end especially. For his smaller size, he gets to the rim well and finishes at a solid rate right now. His speed and activeness is a major advantage of his on the floor.
