After watching Kon II Knueppel Kon II Knueppel 6’6″ | SG Wisconsin Lutheran | 2024 State #15 Nation WI play this past high school season, I wasn’t sold on his ESPN top 50 national ranking. After his performances this summer, boy was I wrong. Kon’s the real deal. As an athlete, Kon’s underrated and might just be one of the most fundamentally sound players in all of high school basketball. On Friday night, Kon flashed his athletic abilities by blocking and altering shots, crashing the boards, creating for others with the pass, and showing off his lethal shot making ability. Phenom University blew the game open in the first half thanks to 21 points from Kon, who finished with 25. When Kon is on the court, it’s business. He’s locked in. On Friday, Kon’s passing ability stood out. He’s an incredibly versatile passer and was creating for others in transition, off rebounds, and on the attack. The location, accuracy, and timing of his passes were truly impeccable. Kon is a special prospect in the 2024 class.
Highlights
Amari McCottry Amari McCottry 6’5″ | SF St. Thomas More | 2024 State #304 Nation WI is another 2024 Wisconsin high school prospect that should have high majors calling. On Friday night, he scored 14 of his 17 points in the first half for Phenom University. He’s an above the rim threat that likes to get out in transition. Not only is Amari a versatile dunker, but he’s a high level, ambidextrous finisher around the rim. Largely due to his ball and body control on the attack, which was evident on Friday. He’s trending towards a college combo guard but will need to polish his ball handling and decision making. Nevertheless, Amari is showing real potential as a two-way threat and three-level scorer. I’m expecting a big senior year and for high majors to show some serious interest with offers.
Anthony Przybilla Anthony Przybilla 6’6″ | SF Brookfield Academy | 2024 State WI continues to boost his stock this summer and may earn himself a division one spot at a low major school. Anthony currently stands around 6’6″/6’7″ and may not be done growing. His dad, Joel Pryzbilla, a former player for the Milwaukee Bucks and Portland Trail Blazers, is listed at 7’1″. This bodes well for Anthony as he has guard capabilities. Bigger prospects with ball handling capabilities and potential growth spurts are always interesting to track. On Friday, Anthony did a great job displaying his ability to score in the paint. He drew plenty of fouls and made MTXE Premier pay at the free throw line. The defense knew his lefty spin move was coming on the catch, but still couldn’t slow him down. Anthony finished with 22 points and did a solid job showcasing his touch and potential to alter shots. In order to get to that low major division one level, I believe Anthony needs to add one more piece to his game. Whether that means becoming a three-point threat, improved slashing ability, or quicker footwork on the help side, one more piece needs to be added.
On Friday night, Phenom University had another star in Sekou Konneh Sekou Konneh 6’6″ | SF St. Thomas More | 2024 State WI . He finished with 19 points in the blowout win. When evaluating Sekou as a prospect, his physical tools and defensive potential instantly stick out. He’s up to 6’8″ and has a plus wingspan that he uses to his advantage. On the Nike EYBL Circuit, he’s tallied 19 blocks and 10 steals in just 12 games. Keep in mind that Sekou is playing just 21.5 minutes per game and made the jump to the circuit this season. On the offensive end, Sekou is a beast on the boards. He has a nose for the ball and great timing on put back dunks. He’s an above the rim athlete and a rim runner lob threat. As an offensive prospect, he’s still raw but has flashed some on ball scoring creativity, a part of his game that I believe will continue to grow. His jump shot is improving, but is still a work in progress. Sekou currently holds offers from Miami (OH) and UW Milwaukee and more will follow. He’s still flying under the radar, but should catch the attention of a few high major programs come next fall.
