The Spring Valley Spring League pits several 4A and 5A programs against each other, giving me a way too early look at some potential star performers. Here’s a look at some standouts from today’s action.
You know what you’re getting when Lemke plays and he displayed it perfectly. The stretch four is a knock down shooter. That can easily raise up over smaller defenders. He hit multiple threes in the game, showing why he’s one of the best available stretch bigs on the West Coast. A 3.9 student, the high academic forward has already starting getting interest from several D1 programs.
Staton runs the floor like a deer, and finishes everything around the rim. He’s one of the most intriguing prospects, and is going to receive a ton of interest because of his length, size and athleticism. He was dominant, pinning a few shots on the glass, as well as hammering home a few easy dunks.
Highlights
Franklin was one of the highest stockriser in the most recent class of 2024 rankings release. He looked like he could continue to rise. He put together a terrific two way effort, forcing a ton of steals in Silverado’s full court press. He displayed athleticism, not just on his dunk, but on every attack toward the rim.
Ned looked like what an exprienced Varsity player should look like when playing against Spring League comp. He simply had too much speed for his opponents, and showed off his new found explosion, playing above the rim on a couple of dunk attempts.
Speaking of explosion, The normally spot up shooter, showed that he has added some explosion to his game. Cosby had his first in game dunk today, throwing one down in transition. Overall he kept his strap with him, knocking down more than his share of jumpers, making him one of the top players in the gym on the day.
