I’ve got a batch of underrated backcourt prospects that should be on your radar this spring and I’ll explain why these players are set for big seasons, and why they shouldn’t be underestimated.
Isaiah Brown Isaiah Brown 6'2" | PG Great Futures Prep | 2025 State WA | Seattle Rotary | 2024
Brown has been a steady riser among 2024 guards that gets downhill under control, attacks the rim with intent, and sees the floor extremely well. He is one of the most underrated guards in the south sound and should start to show some first-team all-league potential this spring after finishing last season as a second-teamer.
Levi Dorsett Levi Dorsett 6'0" | CG Grandview | 2024 State WA | Central WA Select | 2024
Dorsett is a competitor that fights on both ends of the floor. He’s an aggressive defender with good instincts, getting more blocks than your average guard and staying active and engaged throughout possessions. He can do a little bit of it all on the offensive end too and should step into a bigger offensive role next high school season.
Liam Kelly Liam Kelly 6'0" | CG Woodinville | 2025 State WA | EBC Elite | 2025
Kelly showed some real comfort on the floor in the high school season and looks like a player that could take that next step, starting with the spring AAU schedule. He has good size, can shoot the three, and plays strong defense. He should step into a larger role for a Woodinville team that has the talent to make a run at the state tournament.
Jaeger Fyfe Jaeger Fyfe 6'1" | SG Meridian | 2025 State WA | D1 Elite | 2025
Fyfe has a chance to be one of the top scorers for his 16U squad, and he’s used to shouldering a big load as he was a focal point in Meridian’s offense during the high school season, averaging 16 points per game. He’s an outstanding shooter that should start to get some looks this spring playing for a solid D1 Elite program. He has the confidence and cool to take on important possessions and could be a big riser in the 2025 class.
Nalu Vargas Nalu Vargas 6'3" | SG Mt Spokane | 2025 State WA | Spokane Flight | 2025
This guy has been super solid for Mt Spokane and Spokane Flight over the past year. He spaces the floor with a smooth jumper, makes heady plays, and has been an asset defensively. Little by little, he’s gotten more opportunity and more touches within the offense and shown an aptitude to handle more responsibility. Though he might not get too prominent of a role this spring, he is someone to get acquainted with as he has major potential to be a key guy at Mt Spokane when the high school season rolls around.
