Continue ReadingIn only his second year of varsity action, he helped lead his team to a deep run in the state playoffs and showed his ability to impact games in numerous ways. He plays the game with a high amount of intensity and continues to prove himself as a legit college prospect.
Another young prospect that has gotten off to a tremendous start to his varsity career, Grimes put together an impressive season, making a high number of plays on both ends of the floor. He has the ability to make plays inside the paint but also has shown flashes of ability to play on the perimeter as well. D1 programs have already begun to offer, and we only expect that list to continue to grow over the next two years.
Highlights
His talent has been known for some years now, but we saw him take on more of the facilitating role, when his team needed it after an injury to their starting PG. He possesses an IQ for the game that is well beyond his years, never seems to get sped up and has continued to develop his physique. Easily one of the top players in the state regardless of class and a nationally ranked prospect that will have a bigtime senior year.
Highlights
He led his team to an outstanding season, reaching the third round of the state playoffs and at one point of the season, the team reached a winning streak of 11 games. Scoring the ball at a very high level, he led the team in scoring at 24 Points per contest while shooting 50% from the field.
There were plenty of questions about his team going into the season after they lost their top two scorers from the previous season, but he embraced his new role and put together an outstanding year. He improved in every statistical category, averaging 17 Points and 11 Rebounds on the season, proving himself as legit D2/D3 prospect.
The Nighthawks played one of the toughest non-conference schedules of any team in the state, which only helped them late in the season and into the state playoffs. He led the team in scoring at 21 points per contest while also rebounding the ball at a high level, averaging just under 8 boards a night.
