This one brought together some of the best independent programs from across the southeast and certainly did not disappoint. After focusing on the 17u division for most of the weekend, here’s my all-tournament team.
It was another big weekend for Jett Montgomery Jett Montgomery 6’1″ | PG Independence | 2024 State TN who’s been tearing though circuits for years. Montgomery always finds a way to get his points and he can get them in a variety of ways. A pure and confident shooter, he can burn you from behind the arc and gets his shot off in a split second. Montgomery also had a number of impressive finishes at the cup, through or around contact. Week after week, Jett Montgomery Jett Montgomery 6’1″ | PG Independence | 2024 State TN continues to prove his doubters wrong and establish himself as legitimate D1 guard prospect.

Indred Whitaker ran the show for Kentucky Future Elite this weekend and ran it with some swagger. Whitaker is a do-it-all point guard that can score from multiple levels. He’s lethal from three and won’t hesitate to pull it from 30 feet. In addition to his sharpshooting, Whitaker is a capable penetrator and was able to get the hole all weekend. On the defensive end, he’s a gritty on-ball defender and plays hard. Indred Whitaker is definitely a player I’ll have my eye on through the rest of the spring.

STARS Basketball Club’s 2025 UA Rise group played up in the 17u division this weekend but were one of the top teams nonetheless. Ty Glasper Ty Glasper 6’1″ | PG Gatlinburg-Pittman | 2025 State TN was dominant all weekend at the point guard position and provided a deadly 1-2 punch next to Cade Capps Cade Capps 6’5″ | SG Stone Memorial | 2025 State #210 Nation TN . Glasper is a bucket-getter, able to score from all 3 levels using a combination of skillful ball-handling and crafty footwork. He’s coming off of a dominant high school season where he averaged 25 PPG and it looks like he’s carried that momentum over into the spring.
Taveon Comage Taveon Comage 6’2″ | PG Webb-Bell Buckle | 2024 State TN was one of my favorite players to watch this weekend, both entertaining and productive. Comage had highlight dunks in every game and really infused his STARS North team with surges of energy. He runs the floor hard and won’t miss an opportunity for a breakaway dunk. In the half court, Comage showed some impressive playmaking ability off the bounce. He also knocked down open threes when he had them and I didn’t find many weaknesses in his game. Taveon Comage Taveon Comage 6’2″ | PG Webb-Bell Buckle | 2024 State TN certainly left his mark on Nashville this weekend and proved he could be a viable 2-guard prospect for a lot of schools.

Jacob Edwards Jacob Edwards 6’3″ | SG Rossview | 2024 State TN was a new name for me this weekend but he definitely grabbed my attention quickly. Edwards had the highlight of the weekend, a powerful one-hander over multiple defenders that sent the gym into an absolute frenzy. In addition to his above-the-rim capabilities, Edwards has a complete scoring package and carried the load for the NYBA Stars in some close games. He uses his solid frame well on the attack and also showed off a smooth pull-up jumper. The combination of skill, strength, and athleticism make Edwards a handful for defenders and I’m already excited to see more of him this spring.
