Darius Chestnut Darius Chestnut 6'2" | SG Sun Prairie West | 2023 State WI — G — RIT Elite
College coaches searching for a late addition to their 2023 recruiting class should take a very close look at Chestnut. The RIT Elite guard had a really productive weekend at Madness In The Midwest. As a scorer, Chestnut is versatile and explosive. He uses his speed and strength to knife into the paint and finish above the rim. He is also capable of draining outside shots if left open. At the college level, Chestnut can certainly help a team win.
Avery Houden Avery Houden 6'5" | SF Middleton | 2024 State WI — SF — Wisconsin Academy
Houden has all of the physical tools necessary for success at the next level. He has great positional size, is very athletic, and has quick feet and hands. Houden also has the skills to match. He can make outside shots, finish layups at the rim, and block shots. When Houden puts it all together, he is really a special prospect. He played a great game on Sunday and I look forward to watching Houden play in the future.
Theo Schofield Theo Schofield 6'5" | PF Waterloo | 2024 State WI — SF — Wisconsin Academy
Last spring, I was really impressed with Schofield’s ability to dominate in the paint. He was able to use his strong frame and athleticism to find success around the hoop. This spring, it was a different story. The Wisconsin Academy small forward showed a new aspect of his game. He was able to step outside and shoot long-range shots with confidence. In one game, Schofield drained two threes early in the first half. If Schofield is able to offer the threat of consistently draining shots beyond the arc, he will become a matchup nightmare.
Riley Johnson Riley Johnson 6'4" | SG Chanhassen | 2025 State MN — SG — Northstar Titans
When a prospect gets on a roll, it can be very fun to watch. Johnson was able to catch fire in a Sunday morning matchup against North Dakota Phenom. He scored 24 points, making six shots from three-point range in the process. The shooting guard is truly an elite scorer. He was able to boost his stock significantly on Sunday morning.
Drew Kempel — PG — North Dakota Phenom
North Dakota Phenom suffered a tough loss to Northstar Titans on Sunday. But even in the loss, Kempel impressed. Kempel’s box score numbers won’t be eye-popping, but it doesn’t take a basketball expert to recognize the impact that Kempel has on the game. The point guard is a slick passer and smooth ball handler. He does a really good job of setting up teammates for easy-scoring opportunities.
Jake Dedominces — SG — Northstar Titans
Helping lead his team to an impressive win, Dedominces had a breakout performance. The shooting guard tallied 17 points on 7 made field goals. I was really impressed with how Dedominces scored. Each bucket that he got was extremely tough. The Northstar Titans product proved that he thrives as a tough-shot maker.
