Grit Region Kick-Off: Ramsey’s Sunday Notebook
In this article:
Just like that the Prep Hoops Circuit Grit Region Kick-Off has come and went. Teams ranging all the way from New York to Arkansas descended upon the MidAmerica Sports Center in Louisville, Kentucky to play four games between Saturday and Sunday. I had boots on the ground throughout the event providing extensive coverage on Twitter @BRamseyKSR and obviously here on the Prep Hoops website as well. We will have plenty of content over the next few days recapping the Grit Region Kick-Off, but first let’s empty out the notebook from Sunday’s action.
Indiana Ambition 2025 Rolls to Perfect 4-0 Weekend
There admittedly wasn’t a whole lot of competition for this Indiana Ambition 2025 group as they won their four games by an average of over 37 points per game. Joel Sanders (Vincennes Lincoln H.S. 2025) was the standout in a 72-36 win over Circle City Shooters Elite 2026 on Sunday afternoon knocking in five three-pointers on his way to 19 points. However, it was a well-rounded effort that led to the success at the Prep Hoops Grit Region Kick-Off. 6’3″ wing Jay Summitt Jay Summitt 6'3" | SF Evansville Harrison | 2025 State IN (Evansville Harrison H.S. 2025) really impressed with his defensive prowess. He is an outstanding athlete, has the physical tools to effectively guard every position, and used his length to block several shots as his man drove to the basket. On the offensive end, Jace Jenkins (Princeton H.S. 2025) was consistently a top performer for Indiana Ambition 2025. The 6’0″ guard is an elite shooter from beyond the arc and showcased ever-improving skills off of the bounce as well.
6’6″ forward Brooks Thomas Brooks Thomas 6'7" | C Evansville Harrison | 2025 State IN (Evansville Harrison H.S. 2025) also had a good weekend showing off some upside as a prospect. He has the obvious size and strength around the basket that help carry him as the skill set continues to develop. This weekend he did a good job of getting into his post moves quickly, keeping the ball high, and finishing at the rim. Should have a nice spring and summer ahead of him.
Pittsburgh Pioneer Elite 2024 Caps Off Undefeated Weekend With a Win over Kentucky Supreme 2024
The trip from the Pittsburgh area down to Louisville, Kentucky was certainly worth it for this Pittsburgh Pioneer Elite 2024 group. In one of the best games of the weekend the capped off a 4-0 weekend with a 57-54 win over a very good Kentucky Supreme 2024 team. Torrien Perkins Torrien Perkins 6'2" | SG Obama Academy | 2024 State PA (Obama Academy 2024) showed off his offensive versatility scoring a team-leading 18 points while Logan Golle Logan Golle 6'1" | PG Taylor Allderdice | 2024 State PA (Taylor Allderdice H.S. 2024) added 17 points. Both Golle and backcourt mate Nicholas Brown (Bethel Park H.S. 2024) were consistently disruptive on the defensive end of the floor throughout the weekend as well.
As for Kentucky Supreme 2024, 6’5″ wing Cameron Edwards Cameron Edwards 6'4" | SF Kentucky Country Day | 2024 State KY (Kentucky Country Day 2024) finished with 17 points in the loss. He is a really intriguing prospect with elite athleticism and length, good straight line driving ability, and excellent tools on the defensive end of the floor. Alongside fellow 6’5″ wing Damon Howard Damon Howard 6'1" | PG Pike | 2025 State IN Jr. (Fairdale H.S. 2024) there is some really impressive athleticism on this Kentucky Supreme team. 5’10” playmaking guard Mike Loftis (Holy Cross H.S. 2024) had a great weekend as well.
Team 4:13 Continues to Impress
This group is really fun to watch. You don’t often see teams in the spring and summer months running so many set plays, sharing the ball, and competing as hard as Team 4:13 did this weekend at the Grit Region Kick-Off. 6’2″ forward Koterrion Owens (Charleston (MO) H.S. 2024) as their leader this weekend averaging about 17 points per game on the way to a perfect 4-0 record. Owens is built like an undersized post guy but possesses the skill level of a guard. He is really tough to stop when he gets going downhill to the rim. His running mate in the backcourt Will Harmon Will Harmon 6'1" | SG Fountain Central | 2024 State IN (Masaac County (IL) H.S. 2024) added 13.5 points per game and dished out several assists as well. He plays with great pace with the ball in his hands, is a very willing passer, and showcased the ability to create his own shot as well. There are several impressive prospects on this team from western Kentucky, Illinois, and Missouri to watch this spring and summer.
MAC Boys Basketball 2024 Feature Several Impressive Prospects
It doesn’t take the trained eye of a talent evaluator to notice that this MAC Boys Basketball 2024 team is really, really good. There were several standouts on their way to a 4-0 weekend and it looks like every player on their team will likely play at the next level. 6’5″ versatile wing Tino Yil-Junnila (Hudson (OH) H.S. 2024) was the leader in a blowout win over NEBC 2024 on Sunday scoring 17 points while Jayson Levis (Lutheran West (OH) H.S. 2024) added 13 points and Connor Smith (Medina (OH) H.S. 2024) chipped in 11 points. All three of these guys are very skilled and can score the basketball in a variety of ways. We will talk more about them when the All-Tournament teams get released on Monday.
Additional Notes From Sunday’s Action
- Jace Gant (Jeffersonville H.S. 2025) and Mason Arthur Mason Arthur 6'2" | PG New Washington | 2025 State IN (New Washington H.S. 2025) stood out for Southern Indiana Blaze 2025 in an afternoon win over Illinois Storm 2025 Blue. Gant is a good athlete, strong around the basket, and plays with a very high motor. Arthur is a 6’2″ wing that can really, really shoot it from beyond the arc. The Blaze went 3-1 on the weekend.
- The Circle City Shooters Elite 2026 team is a fun one to watch. Chrishon Woodward (North Central H.S. 2026) averaged 17.5 points on the weekend to lead them to a 3-1 record. The 6’5″ wing is very versatile and has impressive perimeter skill for his size. TJ Williams Jr. (Purdue Poly Tech 2026) and Elijah Wilson (Warren Central H.S. 2026) were consistent scores for Circle City as well.
- For the second day in a row, unsigned senior John Clemmons (Caravel (PA) H.S. 2023) shined for NEBC 2024. The talented 6’5″ wing is really hard to stop in transition and off of the dribble against a closeout. He can rise up above the defense, showcases a smooth jump shot, and rebounds his position at a really high level. Could be nice late addition to some program. Scholarship level player.
