The event is the unofficial kick-off to the Spring Live period, as it takes place the week before college coaches are eligible to come out and lay eyes on players. The tournament-style event features both boys’ and girls’ teams ranging from 8U – 17U. This exposure event will feature heavy media coverage, including Prep Hoops and highlight company Balldawgs. It will serve as the perfect time for several players to get on the recruiting radar, here’s a look at some potential sleepers attending the event.
Saw Getahun during the Spring Valley season, and to be honest he was thrown into the fire in some tough spots for the Grizzlies. His exprience during the high school season should have hardened him for grassroots competition. We should get a first hand look at that this weekend.
I didn’t see as much of Feazell as I would have liked to last weekend during Spring League action. With the event being a 4-game guarantee, I should get a good look at him. The downhill slasher is, quick and can score in transition. Looking to evaluate his outside shooting this weekend.
White will have my full attention this weekend. The wing scorer for Clark is coming off a strong freshman season, earning several All-conference accolades. A local event, playing against similar aged competition could be the perfect platform to springboard his grassroots and sophomore season.
Moses is one of the players I’m most excited to see. He first got on my radar during playoff time, when he stepped up and contributed during the Mustangs run to the 2A championship game. What makes AAU so fun, is you get a chance to see players in different roles, and after coming off a complimentary role for a championship caliber program, I’m curious to judge his confidence. Will he be more aggressive? If so he may be a sleeper, capable of doubling as a stockriser.
Not 100% sure if Engfer is playing, but if he is, I’m going to lay eyes on him. One of the more underrated athletic players in his class, last I saw him he was giving buckets out during Chosen Few’s Labor Day event. With this being such a pivotal stage in a young players career, looking to see where his game has developed since the end of the season.
