SubscribeThe Iowa Mavericks 17U – Grey team brings back a lot, if not all, of its returning players from a year ago. They are a team that has chemistry, balance, and most importantly, experience together on the court. Each player does a good job of knowing their role and not forcing anything unnecessary wether it be on offense or defense. There is a lot of promise here. Wouldn’t be shocked if this group put together one of those spring/summers that everyone on the team remembers for the rest of their lives. A spring/summer where losses are few and far between and victories come in bundles. We will just have to wait and see.

Roster
Quick twitch point guard. Knows where his players are going to be, before they get there. Likes to pull up from three in transition. Has the ability to shoot from extremely deep when given the time to set his feet. Good at getting to the basket and and finishing with either hand. Keeps his head on a swivel. Nice leader on the floor with the ball in his hands.
Lengthy wing. Nice size and speed for his position. Can score in bunches once he see’s his first shot fall. Really well rounded recruit in general. Can guard a number of positions while being able to do everything on offense that you would imagine. Like his ceiling moving forward. Player who can come into a college program and make a difference.

All around athlete accompanied with some skill. Bouncey near the rim. Has nice size with the ability to pass like a point guard. Can handle during pressure situations or dribble up the ball if need be. Seems to be more of a guard type. Brings up the ball a good amount for the teams he plays for off of a rebound, ending in a nice looking shot by himself or an open teammate after a dish.
Solid player who contributes in several categories each game, usually score and rebounding. Has a nice perimeter shot with sound footwork and balance. Debatably the best perimeter defender on this team. He has an act for rebounding, especially on the offensive side of the floor. Understands timing of the missed shot and timing his jump, to work in unison.
Another well rounded player who excels on offense for this group. Can score it in a number of ways while also being relentless on the boards. Does a good job of turning nothing into something when his team needs it the most. Spreads the floor well and understands spacing better than most. A player who can go get you a bucket when the game is on the line for your squad. A special talent in the program.
The man in the middle. Paint protector. A longer forward for this group who will move and play the center position a majority of the time. Springy but fundamental. Works hard on both sides of the floor. Excels at boxing out and rebounding. Good skill on offense with a number of moves he uses in the post. Good going either way or up with either hand when attacking the rim. A lot of raw talent.
Efficient, Fundamental, Accurate. However you want to put it, Caden is that type of guy. He is a good shooting guard with size and strength. He can dribble, defender, and score with the best of them. He tries not to force shots if he doesn’t need to. Another player that is super well-rounded overall and who can fill it up in a blink of an eye on offense. Going to be a productive college player someday for a successful program out there.
6’1 shooting guard who plays more of a combo guard a majority of the time. Lengthy with quick hands. Is very good at stealing the ball on defense after reading his opponent for just a few plays. Is more of an assist guy but can fill it up at a consistent rate as well if his team needs him to. Player who you have to watch out for, as any game could be “his game” and he goes off for 20 and 10.
