Continue ReadingWith their freshman seasons over with and their AAU seasons started, it’s time to update the 2026 class rankings. There are some super talented players at the top of the list and several others lower down the ranking that have massive long term potential. Here’s a look at the updated top post players in Kentucky’s Freshman class.
Long and wiry with a frame that looks like it’s still growing, Blakey is an upside play in this class. Landon is pretty bouncy and athletic but needs to fall in love with the weight room in the near future. After averaging 8 points and 6 rebounds per game this season, the 6’6 forward should be looking at potential double-double averages next season.
Bender has been a top 10 player in the rankings for a while but had to drop this update after not playing much varsity this season for Ballard. Don’t be surprised if he shoots back up the rankings in the next update. Jordan can score around the block but is also working to expand his game out to the perimeter and could eventually be a big wing. He has a high prospect ceiling and it gets higher as he grows.
As mentioned in the “New Names” article this week, Martin is a physical specimen who is capable of bullying defenders and rebounds at a high rate. Keep an eye out for him as a difference maker in the 5th region next season.
A true center with old school game, Close has low block scoring skills and knows how to use his body for positioning and finishing through contact. Bryten is a talker on defense who isn’t afraid to quarterback a defense at such a young age. He and Blakey are going to be a big time duo for the next 3 years.
Klope is a big, bruising forward who is also a good athlete and can finish through contact at the rim. Playing on the 3SSB circuit this summer, Jackson could see his stock take off. If he doesn’t grow, he’ll need to move his game to the perimeter but for now, the big man is most comfortable playing around the rim.
