There are a handful of players at this position that I feel are flying under the radar that are climbing the rankings after having breakout seasons this past year. Here are my five underrated small forwards for the 2025 class.
Dubois is a player that is great at finishing around the rim while forcing the referee to call the foul on opposing defenders because of how much contact he will absorb in the paint. His shooting ability is respectable too as he will knock down the open three-pointer if the defense sags off on him. Dubois’s quick first step off the dribble allows him to get into the paint at will. He crashes the glass with force and is solid defensively only looking to get better heading into next season.
Highlights
Bragg loves to get out and play in the transition game always leaking out for an easy score because of his quickness to get up and down the floor. A great shooter with a smooth release making it an automatic bucket when given the open look. He finishes at the rim with both hands well with a quick crossover to go along with it. On the defensive side of the ball is where I feel his game will get taken to that next step as he rebounds fiercely over everyone else and plays defense extremely well making him an overall two-way player.
Torres is an absolute sharpshooter from downtown with what seems like having endless range. He does most of his damage from behind the arc with a quick upper release allowing him to shoot over anyone. Torres is always moving without the basketball to get open looks tiring defenders out. His defensive game is good but can get better at moving his feet more to stop quicker players from driving past him. Also, Torres should look to be more aggressive in the paint and use his long 6’4″ frame as it will open more scoring opportunities for him.
Richardson is a tenacious rebounder that loves to be a bruiser/bully down low. When Richardson makes up his mind that he wants to drive down the lane almost no one is stopping him from scoring in the paint because of how strong and physical he plays. He has a nice post-hook shot that he can get over anyone whenever he wants to use it. Richardson is even an underrated playmaker constantly looking for the kick-out open shooter from the three-point line because of how much attention he draws. He’s just an overall hard-nosed player that plays with a lot of force and power.
Crowley is an excellent catch-and-shoot shooter from the three-point line but especially in the corner areas. He can finish at the rim with confidence over bigger defenders while also being able to kick it out to the open three-point shooter. Crowley reads passing lanes well giving his team many transition opportunities throughout a game. I feel confident in saying that Crowly will have a bigger season next year when given more opportunity as his game should transition well moving forward.
