This class features a high number of players capable of manning the 5 spot. In this article, we take a look at some of the top Centers in the class.
People are just now finally catching on. Maker is a dominant inside force that changes games with his ability to block shots and protect the rim. The knock on him had been his offense, however he’s improved greatly in that area. Even if he dosen’t light it up from outside, he has value as a transition and putback finisher.
Highlights
Traditional back to the back banger, you know what you’re getting with Whittle. He has soft hands, and has shown the ability to score around the rim with his strong hand. He has added some additional moves to his low post game, making him one of the better offensive centers in the class.
Reid is the type of player every team needs. The wiry big man plays with good activity, and has an impact on games with his interior defense and rebounding. Has the type of frame that could catch the eye of a college coach this summer.
Highlights
Ellena may be one of the top high academic prospects on the west coast. He’s a 4.0 + student that has attracted attention from some Ivy League Schools. Ellena is a flat footed shot blocker who has success altering shot attempts with his length.
Tomlin is one of the more exciting players in the class. He’s had another growth spurt, checking in at 6’8 now. When you add in his mobility and athleticism it’s easy to see why so many are intrigued. It will be interesting to see what he does this summer, as one or two special plays may put him squarely on the recruiting radar.
My guy Ryder has battled through everything. The two sports star had a setback on the gridiron but rehabbed quick enough to see some time for Liberty during the State Finals. A banger type, he rebounds, and defends the interior, providing two vital skills for any successful program.
Quinn is a player has peaked some interest over the last few months. He was more than servicable for Meadows during their state run, and his size is a valuable resource for every program. Would love to see his more of his skill set this summer, but as it is he has the potential to be one of the more productive big men next high school season.
Big body banger that rebounds and scores on the interior. Two sport athlete, provides depth to the already deep position in his class.
Saw Mucharbach this summer and he went off. The big man showed a nice touch around the basket along with a good array of post moves. He checks in at 6’8 with long arms, and potential.
Meeks has slowly been getting better over the course of his years at Cheyenne. He’s 6’6 and massive, making him the perfect high school banger. If he continues developing at the rate he currently has, he could be an impact player this upcoming high school season.
