Under The Rader: 2027 Point Guards To Keep An Eye On

There are a number of senior point guards who could use some recognition. Each of these guys does a great job of protecting the rock, facilitating, and they help manage the game.    [player_tooltip player_id='3685002' first='Grayson' last='Stringer'] is a floor general who I was able to watch a few times during the AAU season. He has a knack for getting downhill and knows how to weave around defenders to get all the way to the cup. The attention that he draws also opens the door for his teammates, and he'll make dump-off passes when he runs out of real estate. Stringer is also a tenacious defender who gets up in his opponent's grill often, and he is more than capable of helping cause turnovers.     [player_tooltip player_id='2128633' first='Caleb' last='Candolesas'] is the primary ball-handler over at Civica Academy. He does a nice job of pushing the pace when the defense isn't set. And he also will slow things down when it's time to get his troops organized. His ability to get paint touches is also noticeable, and he'll either go up with it or dish it out to one of his fellow shooters. Candolesas can be a pest on defense too, where he flies around and forces opponents to make quick decisions.     [player_tooltip player_id='2373866' first='Lorenzo' last='Crockett'] is a hard-nosed guard who competes with intensity every time he's out there. On offense, he uses his tight handles to get to where he wants to, and he can set the table for his team by anticipating where defenders will be. He's also a solid shooter, and you have to respect his 3-point shot. In addition to his smart play on offense, Crockett is a scrappy and disciplined defender who stays in position. Look for him to be a playmaker for DO this year.     Faith Lutheran PG [player_tooltip player_id='2520982' first='Reese' last='Riccio'] is a guy who uses his instincts, IQ, and sharpshooting to make his presence felt. He reads the defense as he's bringing the ball up the court and finds space to operate. From there, he will let it fly if defenders slack off of him too much, or he will locate his forwards on the block for an easy bucket. Considering the number of Crusaders who graduated, he may see a significant increase in his playing time.     [player_tooltip player_id='3558083' first='Simmie' last='Beals'] may be the best scorer on this list of point guards. He has the acceleration skills to blow right by defenders, and he constantly puts pressure on the rim. Beals also earns trips to the charity stripe, and he can get his opponents in foul trouble. Defensively, Beals will get physical, and he uses his athleticism to cut off his man.     [player_tooltip player_id='2813385' first='Jeremiah' last='Cook'] is as quick as a hiccup. He can put defenders on skates and has enough burst to slash to the hoop in just a couple of dribbles. He's also a prospect who can jump-start fast breaks and get out in transition. Cook utilizes his foot speed on defense too, where he can make deflections and come up with steals. All in all, he's an entertaining player to watch, and I like how he doesn't take plays off.     [player_tooltip player_id='2883977' first='Carson' last='Kurata'] is a crafty point guard who distributes the rock well. He is quite unselfish and doesn't mind giving it up when his teammates have a quality look. But he will also pull the trigger himself when the time is right. In addition to his passing skills and scoring ability, he stays engaged on defense. Sticking to his matchup like glue.
