Our top ranked available guard in the state put together an impressive state title winning performance, further cementing his status as one of the top available 2023 HS guards in the region. Head is a big-time athlete and was able to use his quickness and strength to get past the OG perimeter defenders. Over the past 12 months Head has taken big time strides as a 3-point shooter and knocked down a pair of triples in this one. The leading scorer in the game with 19 points, Head should be an option for low major, Division II and post grad programs right now.
Crumble was very productive and efficient in both games down in Dayton this weekend, using his size to finish around the basket and running the floor for easy buckets. Also knocking down a 3-pointer at the third quarter buzzer, Crumble shot it with confidence, and it was smooth coming out of his hand. One of the most naturally talented 2026 players in the Midwest, Crumble is already high on high major recruiting boards, expect to continue to see Crumble make a big impact during his high school career as he has one of the highest ceilings in the state regardless of class.
Ottawa Glandorf hung around for the entire game, knocking down 11 3-pointers to stay within striking distance at the end. White hit a 30-foot buzzer beater to end the first half that gave the Titans some momentum heading into the locker room. A breakaway slam in the second half also got the heavy OG crowd to their feet. As a playmaker, White created lots of open looks for his teammates and ended with a game-high five assists. Unfortunately for OG, 14 turnovers led to easy transition looks for Lutheran East and the Falcons made enough shots from the perimeter and free throw line to walk away with the state championship.
Scott and Jonas Nichols Jonas Nichols 6’3″ | SG Hoban | 2024 State OH fueled a state title run for Archbishop Hoban and while Nichols didn’t have his offensive game going, the pair were everywhere defensively and helped push the pace for easy buckets for the Knights. Nichols also had a game-high five assists for the Knights as well. After Scott started slow from the floor, he got things going at the end of the first half with a couple mid-range shots and floaters to give Hoban a one-point lead heading into the locker room. Then in the second half it was the tempo that Scott created with his quickness and off the bounce game that gave Hoban a spark to take the lead and never give it up in the fourth quarter.
Knocking down five 3-pointers, Vowles hit big shot after big shot for the Knights and finished with a game-high 17 points in the state title victory. Finding himself open on numerous occasions, Vowles was shot ready and knocked down the open looks his teammates created for him. Between Vowles and Andrew Griffith Andrew Griffith 6’5″ | SF Archbishop Hoban | 2023 State OH , the pair shot 7/14 from 3-point range for 26 points. A big-time shooting display from the wings at Hoban and their ability to make the Pickerington Central defense pay for collapsing in the paint was a huge reason why the Knights won the state championship game. We also spotlighted Sam Greer Sam Greer 6’8″ | C Archbishop Hoban | 2026 State OH in the semifinals, but the freshman once again played at a high level on Sunday night, playing tough defense on Devin Royal Devin Royal 6’6″ | PF Pickerington Central | 2023 State #49 Nation OH and scoring around the paint early and often.
