Continue ReadingOn Monday night, Collinsville travelled to Skiatook and blew them out. Collinsville was winning 35-16 at halftime, 58-26 at the end of the third quarter, and won 77-30. It was total dominance by them in this one. The second game was Bixby taking on Booker T Washington at Booker T. The game started off controversial, as the refs called a technical for dunking before the game (I never saw a dunk by them and I talked to some others and they did not see one either). This made it to where Booker T started the game with two free throws and the ball. The first possession, Booker T dominated the offensive glass with like six offensive rebounds, but they did not score. Parker Friedrichsen Parker Friedrichsen 6'4" | SG Bixby | 2023 State #165 Nation OK picked up two quick fouls and missed most of the first quarter. After he returned, he went on a rampage to set the tone of this game (I will dive into that rampage deeper later on). It was 40-19 at halftime, as they continued to roll over the #4 Hornets in the second half. The final score was 65-48, with Bixby winning. Bixby made a statement with this win going into the playoffs.
Parker Friedrichsen Parker Friedrichsen 6’4″ | SG Bixby | 2023 State #165 Nation OK was absolutely amazing against the #4 team in the state. After being in foul trouble early in the first quarter, he returned at the end of the first quarter to start a rampage. He scored 23 points with seven three pointers within the next seven minutes of play. He scored 21 consecutive points in the game, which flipped the script in this one. This started with a four-point play. To put that in perspective, he barely played over half of the first half and still single-handedly outscored the opponent at halftime. This is coming off of a game where he scored 51 points and his team won 92-52. He almost outscored his opponent for a full game. In this game, he continually hit stepback three pointers while being contested, he hit a turnaround three pointer, and he was hitting from deep. There was more to his game than just that, as he played good defense, coming up with steals and a block. On offense, not only could he shoot, he showed that he is a slithery finisher by utilizing screens and dribble moves. Not all of his shots inside were easy, as he hit multiple acrobatic layups. He had his fair share of rebounds, as well. For the game, he ended with 34 points. There is a reason why ESPN has him ranked as a four-star recruit and he has been offered by several power five schools, but is committed to Wake Forest.

Triston Driver Triston Driver 6’0″ | PG Bixby | 2025 State OK was crucial for the Spartans in this one. Despite all of the controversy and the slow start for his team, he provided energy and was determined to change the momentum of the game. He was playing great defense throughout this one, coming up with several steals and harassing the ball handlers. On offense, he was determined to get to the rim, driving and drawing the foul or getting an and-one. He ran in transitioned to score and also showed the ability to knock down the three, from the corner and off of the dribble. He showed good handles and the ability to get to the mid-range area and knock down the jumper. He scored 17 points in this one. His impact also came from his rebounding ability. He had a great game all-around and was essential for his team winning

Sam McCormick Sam McCormick 6’4″ | SG Bixby | 2024 OK excelled at one thing so well that it helped him make this list. He was huge on the glass for Bixby. I recorded 10 rebounds for him, but it is possible that he had more than that. He also provided a little bit of scoring, having seven points and knocking down a three pointer. His impact also expanded to the defensive end, where he took a charge, had a block, and played great interior defense. Dominating the glass was his biggest asset to the team, though.

Ty Holdman Ty Holdman 6’1″ | CG Booker T Washington | 2023 State OK was the best player on his team in this one. He scored inside a few times, shot 8/10 from the free throw line, and hit a mid-range floater. He had a few rebounds and also played solid defense, coming away with a few steals. Outside of his steals, he showed good hands to knock the ball away a couple of times from the ball-handler. His biggest impact came on the offensive end.
Lathan Boone Lathan Boone 6’1″ | CG Booker T Washington | 2023 State OK was arguably the best defender and rebounder for the Hornets. I recorded eight rebounds for him, with two of the offensive rebounds leading to a putback. He utilized his athleticism and I.Q to lead to great box outs that resulted in the rebounds. On defense, he had at least three steals and he tipped the ball out of bounds or away on other occasions. Outside of his putbacks, he knocked down his free throws and a three pointer. He did a little bit of everything, but his biggest impact came from his rebounding and defensive ability. Great hands and good at his perimeter defense.
Zac Brown was great for Collinsville. He utilized his size to grab one rebound after another and to play great interior defense. He had good shot contest that forced misses and multiple blocks, as well. There were a couple of times that he got a block without jumping. His rebounding was unstoppable at times. Several offensive rebounds and putbacks for him. Not only did he score off of putbacks, he was able to bully the defense down low for easy buckets. On the offensive end, he not only scored inside several times, he showed the ability to stay calm and to make a great pass to the open man. He kept his composure and jumped to fire a great pass to the corner for an open shot. It was a great all-around game for him in this one.
