Continue ReadingThis year we will be doing a player of the year for each grade. We will look at who is the best player as a senior, junior and so forth across the state. We are looking at players that play varsity to narrow our search for Players of the Year. The player that wins Mr. Basketball will not be eligible.
Let’s dive right in. This is one of the classes that will be really up in the air because there is a lot of players that are just similar.
With about 100 kids or so on the radar Ike Staley Ike Staley 6'6" | SG Lone Peak | 2025 State UT has had a great year. He is no longer playing football and you can see the growth that he has had with his shooting as that has improved and his attacks. He seems a bit bouncier as well. He is more of a three but he can play the four as well. He should have a good Spring and Summer before he enters his junior year.
There is a kid that continues to rise over at Juan Diego Catholic and that is Noah Bendinger Noah Bendinger 6'3" | CG Corner Canyon | 2025 State UT . He has a green light and he makes some really tough buckets. He has grown a bit and continues to improve his athleticism as that has improved his attacks to the rim and even his defense and rebounding. Noah has really turned into a threat every time he has the ball.
Jax Allen Jax Allen 6'4" | CG Orem | 2025 State #391 Nation UT over at Cedar Valley is slowly starting to grown into a more filled out frame. He has the ability to break players down with sharp moves and quickness. He shoots the ball well enough as he continues to develop as a PG. If he is allowed to create and play with some freedom he is at his best. There have been games this year when he has really been the X-Factor in some wins.
Dominick Phannolath Dominick Phannolath 5'11" | CG Hunter | 2025 State UT over at Hunter has been great statistically. His team has only won two games against Utah teams which hurts a bit but this kid has talent. He is a player that gets game planned against and he is still able to put up solid numbers. Might be one of the best scorers in the class right now. He will also need to have a big Spring and Summer and hopefully he plays on a platform that can elevate his game.
Others:
Chamberlain Burgess Chamberlain Burgess 6'9" | PF Lone Peak | 2025 State #214 Nation UT is a solid player that has a shot at being a high level player.
Coleman Atwater Coleman Atwater 6'3" | PG Davis | 2025 State UT has been solid and sometimes he comes off the bench and sometimes he starts, he doesn’t pout or complain he just plays hard.
Austin Simon Austin Simon 6'1" | PG Lone Peak | 2025 State UT has emerged at Pleasant Grove.
Symon Sua has a solid shot at Westlake as he is starting to turn things up.
