Kole Hanson Kole Hanson 6’2″ | PG Holy Family | 2024 State MN was a one man press break at times last night. Maranatha was looking to double team and trap the junior guard deep in his own half, but often times Kole was able to split them or find an open man up court to give his team a 4v3 going at the basket. His ability to remain calm under pressure and break the press gave his team plenty of open looks throughout the night. Also showed he can hurt teams as a scorer or facilitator. Kole is so good at getting into the paint and locating an open shooter with an accurate pass. Just seems to have a sixth sense on where an open man is going to be. His scoring production seems to come in two different ways as he has deep range and a lighting quick release from three, but can also get to the basket where he just hangs in the air and has incredible body control to finish through contact. Defensively he’s going to pressure the ball hard, fight over screens, and excels at sliding into position to draw a charge. Took two charges last night and also had a highlight reel chase-down block late in the game.
Highlights
Collin had one of his best scoring games of the year finishing with a team high 25 points in the win. Was dangerous in high-low situations both as a passer and finisher. Was able to use his size to see over his man and deliver in accurate lob passes to his 6’11 frontcourt partner, but also did a great job of using his body to seal off his defender when he was the one in the paint, allowing him to catch and quickly go up to finish. Showed safe hands as he was keeping the ball secure amongst a swarm of guards looking to swipe the ball away. Also flashed the three point shot as he hit a pair of outside jumpers in the second half. Defensively he was a rim protecting threat in Holy Family’s 3-2 zone as he has good feet to slide into position, and is a quick leaper at his size allowing him to quickly elevate and just get a piece of the ball without having to swing his arms a lot.
Bailey ended up missing some time with foul trouble, which was unfortunate as he was putting together a nice game for Maranatha. Came out firing early, as he hit a few threes and ended the first half with 15 points. Bailey has a smooth outside jumper but also showcased his finishing ability with some tough scores around the basket, including a reverse lay-up going right at a 6’11 defender. As one of the tallest players for Maranatha, he was having to guard inside and out, and was scrappy going against HF’s frontcourt duo inside, while also moving his feet against other guards on the perimeter. Has a lot of confidence and toughness as he isn’t going to back down from anyone he comes up against. Finished with a team high 24 points in the tough loss.
Holy Family did a great job of sharing the ball last night, and Boden’s unselfishness played a big role in that. He wasn’t forcing his offense, and that allowed him to put up an efficient 23 points in a win. Kapke was working hard to establish good low-post position, and with his size advantage he did a great job of finding his balance amongst a swarm of guards and going up off two feet to finish. In transition he was running the floor hard and on one occasion this allowed him to take off for an alley-oop dunk. Has the touch and physical tools to go to work from the block, but also has some of the new-age big man skills as he’s athletic in the open floor, handles it well at his size, and is a pick & pop threat.
JaRory Purnell

Maranatha was missing a pair of key players, and JaRory stepped up to help fill in for some of the lost scoring production. He just always seemed to be putting himself in dangerous positions off the ball, finding gaps in the defense for his teammates to find him for good looks. Had a lot of success just slipping between defenders, catching, and quickly going up for a short floater. Did a good job of putting enough arc on his shot to get it up over a pair of 6’11 defenders and score with touch.
Braylon put together a strong game for Holy Family. The 6’2 wing was a threat from beyond the arc, but was also making scrappy plays around the basket. He provided an additional rebounding threat, was running the floor hard for transition finishes, and was actively cutting off the ball to open up good looks at the rim. Braylon has the strength to finish through contact, and was fighting for loose balls all night long. Really like how poised he was against a high pressure defense, helping break the press at times and get his team attacking the basket with numbers.
Matthew has a high motor defensively, and it showed as he was picking up the length of the floor and defending all game long. He has a high level of quickness that allows him to force opposing ball handlers to change directions multiple times as they work their way up the court. Offensively he was helping to penetrate the opposing zone defense with crisp passes into the lane, but also found success off the dribble. Was able to split the defenders at the top of the zone to get into the lane where he could score with a floater, or kick it back out to the perimeter forcing the defense to shift once again.
