A 5-10 lefty sharpshooter, Griffin came off the bench for the Bulldogs to score a team-high 11 points on 4-6 shooting (3-4 3P). He’s a confident shooter with a smooth perimeter stroke and a quick release. He’s thin and will need to add significant strength to his frame as he continues throughout his high school career, but he showed that he can be a reliable scoring threat with the ability to play with and without the ball in his hands.
2025 PF Davis Kern Davis Kern 6'8" | PF Linn-Mar | 2025 State #244 Nation IA (Linn-Mar)
One of the highest upsides players in the 2025 class, a little bit of everything in Kern’s arsenal was on display in the Lions’ win over Prairie, as he went for 17 points on 4-8 shooting (1-2 3P, 8-9 FT) with 6 rebounds, 2 assists, and a block. The 6-8 forward created shots for himself, putting the ball on the floor and getting to the rim. He moved off the ball and showed the ability to shoot it off the catch with a quick release. And he scored on post touches. A versatile, floor-stretching big who can handle it and protect the rim? College coaches should be clamoring for him.
2025 SG Payson Nietert Payson Nietert 6'6" | SF Linn-Mar | 2025 State IA (Linn-Mar)
When you watch Nietert shoot the ball, you’re reminded a little bit of former Cedar Falls and UNI standout AJ Green. The 6-4 off-ball guard has a similar-looking stroke to Green, with a high release that comes back a little bit further than most other shooters, but the release and the results speak for themselves. He has firmly established himself as one of the best catch-and-shoot players in the 2025 class. He had 11 points on 3-6 shooting (2-5 3P, 3-3 FT) in Linn-Mar’s win over Prairie.
2025 PG Mason Matson Mason Matson 6'1" | PG Linn Mar | 2025 State IA (Linn-Mar)
A high IQ lead guard who comes off the bench for the Lions, Matson showed impressive court vision and passing instincts, scoring 8 points with 2 assists. He’s a good ball-handler who can break down the defense and get to the rim, and an excellent passer.
