Some of these players are already known within this class as a top player but has still made a big impact on his teams overall play. Others may be current freshman that are just starting out their long high school career.
Arion has fantastic speed on the court with the ball in his hands. He contains his dribble well when defenders are guarding him tightly. He is effective off the ball as he moves around to get open a lot, which creates space for open shots. He won’t miss many open threes if the opposing team gives them to him. He creates well for his teammates and has great basketball IQ, making the right play often.
Highlights
This incoming freshman has done great things for this Nathan Hale team who has been playing very good. Ismail gets good playing time, in fact is one of the teams leading scorers. His long arms help him out on the defensive side but also keeps his opponents on their toes while guarding him as his length creates a lot of issues for opposing teams. He can attack the rim nicely but also stop on a dime to hit the jump shot. He has fantastic range too, being able to pull it from DEEP.
In my eyes, Davis has made the most impact amongst ANY player in the ENTIRE state. Davis grew up in the Anacortes area so despite him not playing there as a freshman, he’s played with the guys before and knows them well. And I know I’m no the only one to think this, he fits PERFECTLY with this Seahawks team. They play tough defense and Davis’ long arms lead to many deflections and steals. Fogle has led the team to big wins already over defending 1A state champions Lynden Christian and top 2A contending team, Sehome. His stellar offensive play is highlighted by big dunks, beautiful mid-ranges, and finding his open teammates. They have a couple more tough matchups for them, so we will see how that plays out.
I’ve said it before and I will 100% say it again, “Beckett Currie is one of the best shooters in the ENTIRE state.” He is absolutely lights out from long range and hits his shots at such a high rate, it is extremely impressive for only a sophomore. He is going to keep growing his game as the years goes on but he is already more than a shooter. He finds his teammates well and attacks the bucket very effectively. Keep your eye on this 2025 guard.
Malakai is one of my favorite freshman to watch in the entire state. He is 6’3″ and is an OUTSTANDING rebounder. He has had MULTIPLE double-doubles already this season including some games with 20+ rebounds. He is likely one of the most physical guards in his class, maybe even the state. He scores the ball well on offense too, having multiple 20 point games. He attacks the rim nicely and gets to the free throw line effectively.
