Minor is a bigger bodied wing forward who has a pretty unique game with his ability to put the ball on the floor and attack at his size. I like the motor that Minor plays at and I think he’s scalable to a variety of team constructions, fitting different play styles. Minor is one of the more productive players in the OCC and having a big Junior season, a name that scholarship programs will take a look at and Division III schools will swarm this spring and summer.
Beech is a prospect I’ll get to watch this Sunday as Medina takes on Fairview at the Chet Mason Invitational. Beech fits in well with the high paced Bees offense that relies on quick ball movement and sharp shooting. My first sample of Beech was impressive with the control he showed when attacking the basket combined with his skill level and feel from a decent sized wing. This second scouting opportunity will further allow me to understand his game and level of prospect.
Lutheran West have been one of the best teams in northeast Ohio this season and the emergence of Kambomba has been a big reason why the Longhorns have taken a big step this season. An impressive athlete, he’s thrown down some highlight reel dunks so far this season. Still figuring out how to make an impact offensively as more than just a play finisher and spot-up shooter, Kambomba seems to improve almost every time I watch him, showing that his stock is rising and he’s learning under the coaching staff at Lutheran West.
One of the top shooters from central Ohio in the 2024 class, Watters got hotter than a blowtorch at the Prep Hoops 250 Expo this fall and has continued to show his outside shooting ability with Big Walnut this season. More than just a shooter, Watters is a capable defender and can make a smart pass to a teammate. Another player for small college programs to watch, I think Big Walnut could be one of the most improved teams in central Ohio during the 2023-24 season.
Highlights
Speaking of central Ohio teams with lots of talent in the 2024 class, no team might have more college prospects in that grade than Westerville Central. With a trio of guards all with unique skills, Brown fits in well as a wing who can spot up and use his athleticism to make plays. A late bloomer, Brown is just starting to scratch the surface of what he’s capable of and could be one of the biggest risers in central Ohio next season.
One of the smartest players on the court and in the classroom, I always enjoy watching Gallogly compete on the court. I recently broke him down after an impressive performance against Columbus DeSales where he showed off more outside shooting ability than he’s previously shown me. Another prospect that small college programs will love this spring and summer, Gallogly is putting himself in a good position to get interest from a variety of programs.
