December 16-20 I attended the prestigious Tarkanian Classic in Nevada. Most games were at Bishop Gorman HS/NV. There was a prep division Dec 16-18 and a high school division Dec 19-22. I watched as many games as I could in five days.

Here were some more of the Arizona Standouts:

[player_tooltip player_id='1634726' first='Makhan' last='Diouf'] Bella Vista Prep

A fluid mover is long with real size. He showed off his shooting touch from the perimeter and hook shots in the post. He runs the floor well and has elite versatility on defense to defend nearly every position. He is becoming more assertive offensively with the rip thru and he is a very good second jumper, rebounder and shot blocker.

[player_tooltip player_id='1193877' first='Ryan' last='Jackson'] AZ Compass Prep Black

A strong forward can play inside and out. He rebounds in his area and has length and the quickness to play on the perimeter. He scores inside a little but is clearly best facing up. He hit three huge triples, including one game winner at the buzzer coming up clutch.

[player_tooltip player_id='1571917' first='Lucas' last='Prolla'] AZ Compass Prep Black

A point guard has a tight handle and plays with good awareness. The lefty can rattle off threes one by one and he is a fearless competitor. He makes good decisions with the ball and he will play on or off the ball seamlessly. He gives hard shot fakes and will drive it in and score or dish it. He received a preferred walk-on offer to UNLV.

[player_tooltip player_id='1137829' first='Cass' last='Henry'] AZ Compass Prep Black (Pictured)

Henry moved in from Colorado this month. He has a strong upper body and rebounds well in his area. He scores it near the rim, runs the floor well and is active on defense to block, alter or rebound. He will be one to watch the next two years locally.

[player_tooltip player_id='1160999' first='Devin' last='Miller'] AZ Compass Prep Black

Their glue guy usually defends the best guard on every team. He plays with a huge motor and plays hard throughout a game. The lefty can shoot it and put his head down and get to the basket. He takes contact well with his toughness and strength. He picks pockets, grabs out of area rebounds, talks on defense and he can drive and kick it to his shooters.

[player_tooltip player_id='1135514' first='Treyvion' last='Curry'] Phhoenix Prep

An explosive guard is a two-way defender. He will defend any guard and disrupt the passing lanes. He can take a few steps and get himself to the rim to either dunk it, get fouled or lay it in. He excels at anything in the open court with his speed, athleticism and handle.

[player_tooltip player_id='1482217' first='Khalil' last='Lias'] Phhoenix Prep

A long guard who can score and defend. He uses his length and size to defend his opponents and he can score in transition or from the perimeter. He can shoot the three or burst passed his opponents and get to the rim. The young sophomore is steadily improving.

[player_tooltip player_id='1598402' first='Johnny' last='Rios III'] Centennial

An undersized guard is skilled and tough. He has a super tight handle and plays with immense confidence. He can burst into the lane and rise up on a dime from mid-range. He has a floater and he will guard the opposing point guard up the court.

[player_tooltip player_id='1275053' first='Santino' last='Weimer'] Phhoenix Prep

An undersized pure point guard can shoot it with real range and is a phenomenal open court passer. He is tough, quick and skilled. His lack of size is a minor concern since he can shoot it with volleyball line range and make up the court passes plus he is a gamer.
