Saints senior Aidan Yamilkoski Aidan Yamilkoski 6'4" | SG Xavier | 2023 State IA knocked down a jumper from the foul line as time expired, propelling the visitors to a 64-62 victory. The game featured some of the area’s top players.
Here’s a look at guys who stood out:
As mentioned in the opening, Yamilkoski played the hero role by grabbing the defensive rebound before canning the game-winner as time expired. It wasn’t surprising for the team’s leading scorer to have the ball his hands at crunch time. He finished with 17 points and a team-best eight rebounds. He’s a three-level threat who moves well with and without the ball. He finds open teammates when drawing extra attention comes, and he can defend multiple positions.
Lemker brings a toughness on both ends of the court. He shows off good handles and does a nice job moving the ball and finding open teammates. He can score from the outside and get by defenders off of penetration. He’s a solid defender.
Tyler Netolicky
Tyler Netolicky
Netolicky is every bit of 6-8 with long arms and agility. He shows a soft touch and an ability to shoot it with either hand in the lane and on the low block. His strength allows him to hold his spots on offense and wall up on defense. He displays solid timing in challenging shots, moves his feet well and slides smoothly laterally.
It was my second time seeing McCaffery this season. He once again impressed with his all-court game. At 6-9, he brings the ball up the court and also thrives posting up. He shoots it well from distance and from mid-range. He possesses nice form and a soft touch on his shot. He’s athletic and agile, allowing him to defend multiple positions.
JuJu Manson
JuJu Manson
Manson looked more comfortable watching him this time than when I saw him last month. The left-hander attacks the rim, and his vertical and long arms make him tough to defend down low. He brings a solid, mid-range game as well. His quickness and strength for his age helps him defend multiple spots on the floor.
Koch strokes it well from deep with picture-perfect form and a quick release. He moves well without the ball and handles the it well, allowing him to shake loose from defenders and get off his shot. He does a nice job defending on the ball and rebounds well for a guard.
