Continue ReadingDeston Christian Deston Christian 6’6″ | SF Legacy Early College | 2024 State SC has flourished at Walnut Grove after making the move over from Grayson prior to the season. They run a lot of their offense through him and he’s proved capable of being a 20-25 point scorer night in and night out. Christian’s offensive arsenal is well-rounded and he can hurt you from all over the floor. He’s a great shooter from behind-the-arc and likes to get to his mid-range as well. When presented with mismatches, Christian can overpower defenders in the post. Through the first half of the season, Christian has opened the eyes of many scouts and coaches. It will be fun to see if that momentum carries over into the spring and summer.
Marcus Gillespie Marcus Gillespie 6’4″ | CG Clarke Central | 2025 State #171 Nation GA sprung onto the scene early in the season with some big-time scoring numbers. Anytime you hear about a sophomore dropping 48 points, he’s worth a hard look. Gillespie has a true knack for scoring and gets it done in some creative ways. He’s a smooth ball-handler that knows how to break down defenders and create space. From there, Gillespie can hit shots from all 3 levels. Rumor has it that Gillespie’s starting to pick up some high-major interest. He’ll certainly be a 2025 to follow for years to come.

CJ Hyland CJ Hyland 6’0″ | PG Grayson | 2024 State GA is another player that looks to be benefitting tremendously at their new school. There have been several times in the early season where Gicarri Harris Gicarri Harris 6’4″ | CG Grayson | 2024 State #86 Nation GA has been sidelined but CJ Hyland CJ Hyland 6’0″ | PG Grayson | 2024 State GA has run the show beautifully in those moments. He can be a volume scorer when they need him to be and I’ve seen him have multiple 15+ point quarters this year already. Now at Grayson, Hyland is proving that he can be a difference maker at the highest level of high school basketball. To my knowledge, Hyland holds just one offer from Western Carolina but I expect his stock to keep rising with Team Thad this spring.

Samarion Bond Samarion Bond 6’4″ | SG Norcross | 2023 State GA is obviously on a mission in his senior season, to win another state championship and to earn his next opportunity. Bond’s development has been fun to watch and he’s doing things now that he wasn’t doing this summer. I like Bond best as an undersized 3 because of what he can provide around the basket in terms of rebounding and finishing. Physically, Bond has gifts. His body would allow him to play linebacker, yet he’s flying through the air to dunk on 6’8 big men. Last week at the Arby’s Classic, he had an excellent showing and received 3 new offers shortly after.
Caesar Burrows Caesar Burrows 6’3″ | CG Walton | 2025 State GA first jumped onto my radar this summer after watching him play at LakePoint in June. After catching Walton a few more times this season, Burrows has my attention. He and Luke Flynn Luke Flynn 6’2″ | PG Walton | 2024 State GA provide a solid 1-2 punch in the backcourt and when defenses key in on Flynn, Burrows can burn them himself. His game is fundamentally sound and he plays well off of two feet, rarely turning the ball over. He’s also grown to 6’2 or 6’3 and has a good looking wingspan to match. Burrows can also get going from three and has a smooth shooting stroke. Walton’s backcourt looks to be in great hands for years to come between Burrows and Flynn.
