Jack Pfeiffer | Prep Hoops Scout
Marcus, a 3-star senior committed to Nebraska-Omaha, brought the energy and played hard in both games I saw him running with Team TruHeight this past weekend. The 6’4” guard is so quick and was blowing by defenders with ease, where he could then convert on some ridiculous finishes at the basket, showing off some crazy body control. He is also a major shooting threat, hitting on deep looks off the dribble with a hand in his face. Gillespie will be a freshman guard in the Summit League to watch this upcoming season with the Mavericks.

Gillespie committed to OTE in mid-August after an excellent showing with Team USA U18 this summer. Gillispiie is a prototypical combo guard with total confidence in his finishing ability in any spot on the court. He possesses an attribute to not only find his shot, but he finds the BEST shot for him. His proven scoring ability will pair well with the rising facilitation portion of his game, after his stellar scoring numbers at Clarke Central. Overtime Elite will give Gullepsie more opportunities to be on the facilitation level of offensive attacks, making him an even tougher guard in transition.

Gillespie had an outstanding performance over the weekend, showcasing why he is ranked among the best players in Georgia. However, he exited early during his final game. Up until that point, Gillespie averaged 21.5 points per game and made 4.2 3-pointers in 5 games. A notable game was against Texas Impact 4:13, where he scored 31 points in a close 1-point loss (63-64), making 8 out of 11 3-point attempts. Despite having fewer assists than usual, Gillespie demonstrated exceptional efficiency from the field (44%) and led the Xpress to a .500 record for the tournament with his skilled scoring.

‘s stock has been trending upward all summer starting with travel ball on the Under Armour Circuit, where he found his name on several top performer lists. Going into to team camp activities, he attended the NBPA Top 100 Camp, where he was named as a top performer on multiple days and ultimately picked up an offer from GA Tech. At 6’5″, Marcus is a big guard that can take defenders off the dribble, get downhill, and score at will. He finishes well around the rim and through contact. He has good court vision, pushes the ball well in transition, and can knock down the open three. He’s improved drastically as a defender, can rebound, and is an elite shot blocker at the guard position. Look for him to continue to show that he’s capable of being a high major guard this weekend.

put together an excellent spring campaign and he continues to ascend 2025 boards. With the Xpress, Gillespie is playing alongside more talent than ever before and it’s brought out the best in him. Gillespie’s playmaking ability has shined over the past couple months and he’s looking more and more like a true point at the next level. He has all the physical tools, big and strong at 6’4 with above-the-rim athleticism. All that being said, Gillespie’s calling card is still is his volume scoring. We’ve seen numerous 40+ point performances throughout his career and he’s done it against some of the best this spring.

has had a phenomenal spring and is arguably the highest stock riser in all of Georgia. He’s coming off his second straight All-State selection with his high school team, and he just had his second consecutive season of averaging approximately 30 ppg. He’s a big, strong guard that can take almost any defender off the dribble and get to his spots. He gets paint touches often and can get to the basket with ease, finishing around and above the rim at a high clip. During the spring, he’s had some incredible performances, including a 40-point game against Game Elite 3SSB 2025. He’s been playing great defense, putting pressure on ball-handlers on the perimeter, and he’s been blocking shots. He’s also been showing off his ability to be an elite passer and has made huge strides with his ability to read the court and make high IQ decisions. He’s a playmaking, 3-level scorer that can get a bucket with the best of them. His biggest question mark has been, “can he perform against the best of the best?”, and so far, now that Marcus has been playing with
Atlanta Xpress
, he’s shown he deserves a lot of attention from both mid and high major programs.

Gillespie’s ability to change gears and use his matchup’s momentum against him led to Xpress regaining the lead in the 2H before coming out on top over Virginia Elite in OT. He turned steals into finishes at the rim and hit shots in the 2H by timing his cuts and movements to space to create easy looks for himself. A dynamic guard in the halfcourt or in transition, it will be interesting to track his recruitment as he transfers to PHH Prep

averaged 32 PPG this year at Clarke Central but everyone wanted to know if he could do it against top competition. He’s answering that question this spring with the
Atlanta Xpress
. Gillespie has scored it a high clip all spring and helped carry the Xpress to some impressive wins. Now that he’s surrounded by other top-tier talent, his passing ability is beginning to flourish as well. Gillespie’s combination of physical tools and two-way production are worthy of high-major attention.

slides up to #8 in our latest update and takes the top point guard spot. He’s coming off of a huge year at Clarke Central where he averaged 32.6 PPG. Rarely do you find a lead guard with Gillespie’s combination of power, athleticism, and shotmaking ability. He has the tools to be a great defender at the next level too. Gillespie will be playing with the
Atlanta Xpress
on the UAA circuit and his recruitment should take off sooner than later.
