Nelson has made a splash for the Wolves this year. The junior forward has had some big scoring games including 17 against Anchorage, and 18 against Boulder City. The Washington transfer is averaging nearly 10 points per game this year.
Bard has been one of the best rebounders in the state this season. The two sports star who also plays Volleyball for the Cowboys, has used his hops to clean the glass to the tune of nearly 10 boards per game. He’s had 8 double figure rebounding games, including a season high 12 agasint Doral.
Barney has come from out of nowhere to lead the Gators. The junior foward is averaging over 16 per game, while powering Green Valley to a 12-8 record. He’s one of the state leaders in double doubles with his signature game being a 35 point 18 rebound performance against Rancho.
Highlights
Small sample size for sure but, Franklin has proved that he’s going to have an impact for the Skyhawks. The junior wing is averaging 8.5ppg in his first two contest. His size, scoring, and playmaking provide the #3 ranked Skyhawks with another weapon.
Mikias has been thrust into a tough situation, but has handled it admirably. Filling in for the reigning 4A player of the year Alijah Adem Alijah Adem 6’2″ | PG Spring Valley | 2024 State #174 Nation NV , Mikas’ value goes far beyond the numbers. The sophomore PG has brought stability to the position, with his poise and ballhandling. Behind his play, the Grizzlies are off to a 2-0 conference start.
I got a glimpse of Gomez during the Fall and was impressed with his improvement. He’s been even better during the season. Gomez, who’s one of the best 1 v 1 players in the state, is putting up 16 points per game this season. More importantly his scoring and rebounding has helped the Wildcats jump out to a 3-0 Conference start.
