Continue Reading1.) 2025 Jack McCaffery Jack McCaffery 6'8" | SF Iowa City West | 2025 State #70 Nation IA (Iowa City West) – 4.0 blocks per game
The youngest son of Iowa coach Fran McCaffery is off to a stellar start to his sophomore season, averaging 17.0 points, 8.2 rebounds, 2.5 assists, and dominating as a shot blocker. The 6-8 combo forward scores inside and out and has tremendous timing as a shot blocker already. As he continues to add strength to his frame, he’ll be on the radar as a nationally-ranked prospect.
2.) 2024 Cade Courbat Cade Courbat 6'8" | PF Cedar Falls | 2024 State IA (Cedar Falls) – 3.8
A bouncy 6-8 forward who is oozing with potential, Courbat has been really good on both ends of the floor early on for the Tigers, averaging 11.2 points, 7.0 rebounds, and 2.3 assists in addition to his rim protection. He has looked more comfortable as a ball-handler and playmaker, and he provides a ton of defensive versatility.
3.) 2023 Pryce Sandfort Pryce Sandfort 6'7" | SF Waukee Northwest | 2023 State #123 Nation IA (Waukee Northwest) – 3.6
A long, skilled wing who is headed to Iowa next year, Sandfort has tremendous timing as a shot blocker and uses his length and size to cover a ton of ground on that end of the floor. He’s a high IQ player who rotates well and is one of the better help defenders in the class because he always positions himself well.
4.) 2023 Vance Peiffer Vance Peiffer 6'7" | C Waukee | 2023 State IA (Waukee) – 3.4
Another high IQ defender from Waukee, Peiffer is a mobile 6-9 big man who can switch defensively, and he has tremendous instincts and timing as a shot blocker. He’s the type of versatile defender with size that should be coveted by small schools all over the state.
5.) 2023 Lucas Lueth Lucas Lueth 6'6" | SF Ames | 2023 State IA (Ames) – 3.3
Arguably the best all-around defender in the state, Lueth is a long, athletic 6-7 wing who can defend one through five at this level. He moves his feet really well, contests shots without fouling, and does a great job denying when defending off the ball. He’s a high upside 3-and-D prospect.
6.) 2025 Dominic Foster (Sioux City North) – 3.0
Foster, a 6-4 forward, has appeared in just one game so far this season for the Stars but he was really good in that game, putting up 8 points, 7 rebounds, 3 assists, and 3 blocks. He’s a big part of a major youth movement going on at North.
7.) 2024 Gage Kampman Gage Kampman 6'7" | PF Iowa City Liberty | 2024 State IA (Liberty) – 3.0
A long, mobile 6-7 forward, Kampman is another one who is just starting to scratch the surface of what he could be on both ends of the floor. He uses his length and athleticism well on the defensive end, turning away a ton of shots and altering several others.
8.) 2024 Anthony Gott Anthony Gott 6'8" | C North Scott | 2024 State IA (Davenport Central) – 2.6
A 6-8 lefty with a knack for blocking shots, Gott has been a solid contributor for the Blue Devils this year, averaging 6.6 points and 5.3 rebounds in addition to his work on the defensive end. He’s a fairly athletic big man with good hands and timing.
9.) 2025 Davis Kern Davis Kern 6'8" | PF Linn-Mar | 2025 State #244 Nation IA (Linn-Mar) – 2.0
One of the top prospects in the 2025 class, Kern is a 6-8 forward who can score inside and out, protect the paint, and is a switchable defender who holds his own on the perimeter. He’s averaging 16.0 points and 6.6 rebounds on 49-46-71 shooting.
10.) 2025 Trevin Jirak (Valley) – 2.0
The amount of talent in Valley’s 2025 class should terrify every other 4A team around the state, and Jirak is a big part of that, literally. The 6-8 big man impressed at our Top 250 in September and has been strong early in his varsity career. He’s a mobile, switchable defender who is just starting to scratch the surface of his potential on both ends of the floor.
