The Chance Harman Classic returned to SWVA again this year, and as always it is one of my favorite events of the season. The annual event at Floyd County to raise money for cancer research always is a mix of some of the top teams in the western part of VA, as well as some of the top teams nationally in the region. Here's a look at the standouts from the North Carolina teams.

Silas Demary | 6'3” PG | Combine 2023

The USC commit is the leader of this nationally ranked group, and he was fantastic in their wins over Blue Ridge and Winston Salem Christian. He was dynamic on the ball and got to spots easily where he scored it from multiple levels, he was great making plays for others and he made great decisions and didn't turn it over very. much. He scored in double figures in both of their wins including 16 points in a balanced win over Blue Ridge.

[player_tooltip player_id='848089' first='Collin' last='Tanner'] | 6'6” WF | Combine 2023

The Richmond commit may get overlooked with this talented Combine team that has 3 nationally ranked players, but he's as important as anyone on the team to their success. The 6'6” shooter provides size and shot making ability on the wing, he can move around and play different positions depending on the way they're trying to play and he is very smart and makes heads up plays on both ends of the floor.

[player_tooltip player_id='1489567' first='Trentyn' last='Flowers'] | 6'8” WG | Combine 2024

Flowers is considered by many a top 10 player in the 2024 class, and he showed that at Chance Harman, particularly in their win over Blue Ridge. He's as versatile as they come at his size, as he has a an all-around offensive game that includes the ability to put it on the deck and get to spots, score it at all three levels and he is a walking mismatch that is hard to game plan for. He finished with an efficient 18 points in their win over Blue Ridge.

[player_tooltip player_id='1131546' first='Rakease' last='Passmore'] | 6'5” WF | Combine 2024

Passmore is quickly rising up the rankings to being one of the top players in the country, and the way his game is improving it makes plenty of sense. The 6'5” wing is a super athlete who can get downhill and plays well above the rim in transition, he has improved immensely in his ability to make shots from deep off the catch and he is a good rebounder with tremendous potential defensively. He finished with 18 points in their win over Blue Ridge.

[player_tooltip player_id='1556082' first='Torey' last='Alston'] | 6'8” F | Winston Salem Christian 2023

The Sam Houston State commit is the senior leader on this super talented WSC team, and he was super consistent for them in their two wins over Miller School and Blue Ridge. The 6'8” forward is a walking mismatch who can use his size to finish around the rim and through contact, he can step outside where he can knock down shots and put it on the deck and he is a good rebounder and versatile defender too. He finished with 14 points and 9 rebounds in their win over Miller.

[player_tooltip player_id='949379' first='Isaiah' last='Washington'] | 6'5” CG | Winston Salem Christian 2024

Washington has been a very talented player in the 2024 class in NC since he was a freshman, but he's really starting to put it together and has been putting up big numbers all season. At Chance Harman he scored it in many different ways including his ability to create and knock down shots form the perimeter, he used his size to finish around the rim and he was great getting to spots without extra dribbles or movements. He finished with 17 points in their win over Blue Ridge.

[player_tooltip player_id='1326000' first='Kany' last='Tchanda'] | 6'10” C | Winston Salem Christian 2024

Tchanda is starting to get recognized as one of the top big men prospects in North Carolina, and he was fantastic in their two wins. He's a massive presence in the paint that with his size alone making him an impact around the rim, he moves well and can get up and down the floor, he's a big time rebounder and rim protector and he has good hands and touch around the rim too. He finished with 17 points and 10 rebounds in their win over Miller and 10 points in their win over Blue Ridge.

[player_tooltip player_id='982145' first='Lewis' last='Walker'] | 6'6” WF | Winston Salem Christian 2024

Walker is another intriguing prospect on this WSC team, as he has great size on the wing and a lot of game to go along with it. He can put it on the deck and create space on the perimeter where he can make tough shots, he can get downhill and is a good finisher though contact with finesse and power and he can rebound and guard multiple positions too. He finished with 18 points and 5 rebounds against Miller and 10 points in their win over Blue Ridge.
