The 6-8 big man has added another dimension to Xavier this year, providing the Saints with an intimidating interior presence who can protect the paint and control the glass on both ends of the floor. He’s fairly mobile and has good hands. His offensive game is still a work in progress, and he alters more shots than he blocks, but he’s an intriguing young big man to keep an eye on over the next 12 months. He’s currently averaging 9.0 points and 7.7 rebounds a game for the Saints.
(45) SG Fitzgerald Grant Fitzgerald Grant 6'2" | SG Sioux City East | 2024 State IA (Sioux City East)
The leading scorer for the Black Raiders, pouring in 16.3 points a game, Grant has been remarkably efficient so far this season, shooting nearly 63% from the floor. He’s a good athlete with some strength that he uses to get to the rim and finish through contact. He has also shown that he can be a reliable secondary ball-handler and decision-maker, dishing out a few helpers a game for the high-powered East offense.
(46) PG Tyler Hinz Tyler Hinz 5'10" | PG Maquoketa | 2024 State IA (Maquoketa)
Hinz is an impressive athlete in the backcourt, a quick guard with an explosive first step and leaping ability. He’s a knockdown 3-point shooter (48.1 3P%) both off the dribble and the catch, and he uses that elite shooting to open up the rest of his offensive arsenal. He’s averaging 16.4 points and 2.8 assists a game on 50-48-76 shooting splits for the Cardinals.
(57) SG Nick Vaske Nick Vaske 6'3" | SG Ankeny Centennial | 2024 State IA (Centennial)
A high IQ 6-3 off-ball guard, Vaske has had some great moments on both ends of the floor this season for the Jaguars, who have been one of the best teams in 4A. He’s a three-level scorer who can create looks for himself or operate without the ball in his hands, and he contributes on the glass from his perimeter spot.
(60) SG Noah Frazell Noah Frazell 6'1" | SG Waverly-Shell Rock | 2024 State IA (Waverly-Shell Rock)
Frazell is in the midst of a breakout junior year for the Go-Hawks, averaging a team-high 16.1 points a game on 52-47-89 shooting splits. After averaging just 2.8 points a game and shooting less than 30% from the floor as a sophomore, the 6-1 off-ball guard has been outstanding this season, showing that he can play with and without the ball in his hands and absolutely torch the nets from deep.
(63) SG Jamarion Readus Jamarion Readus 6'3" | SG North Scott | 2024 State IA (Davenport Central)
A 6-3 slashing guard, Readus uses his athleticism and length to score in bunches for the Blue Devils, averaging 19.3 points a game. He’s at his best when he’s playing downhill and putting pressure on opposing defenses with his ability to get to the rim and finish through contact.
(75) PF Max Muszalski Max Muszalski 6'5" | PF Pleasant Valley | 2024 State IA (Pleasant Valley)
Muszalski is an intriguing young 6-5 forward with good footwork and touch around the rim, as well as good court vision. I think he’s the type of forward that the offense can flow through because he’s a willing passer who sees the floor well. He’s averaging 7.7 points and 4.3 rebounds on 53% shooting, and his 83% from the free-throw line suggests that there could be a little bit of range in his game.
(76) PG Treshaun Brooks Treshaun Brooks 6'0" | PG Marshalltown | 2024 State IA (Marshalltown)
A quick, athletic lead guard who has been stuffing the stat sheet for the Bobcats, Brooks is averaging 9.7 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 4.9 assists a game on 50% shooting. He’s at his best when he’s using his quickness to break down the defense and find open shooters or cutters.
(79) SF Reed Pfaltzgraff (Bondurant-Farrar)
Pfaltzgraff is a 6-3 wing who can do a little bit of everything, averaging 10.9 points, 4.1 rebounds, 3.8 assists, and 2.6 steals a game. He’s a capable perimeter shooter and a quality playmaker who sees the floor well.
(83) PG Jordan Caton Jordan Caton 5'9" | PG Alburnett | 2024 State IA (Alburnett)
Caton is small, 5-8/5-9, but lightning-quick, and he uses that speed to his advantage, putting constant pressure on opposing defenses. He’s a pest as an on-ball defender, using his quick hands and feet to make life uncomfortable for opposing ball-handlers, and he’s been an elite shooter so far this season, knocking down 43.7% of his 3-point attempts. He has shown that he can shoot it equally well off the dribble and the catch.
