Continue ReadingA 6-4 off-ball guard who can really shoot it, Nietert led the Lions with 15 points on 5-9 shooting (3-7 3P) in their win over Bettendorf. He has a really quick trigger and a smooth stroke off the catch with plenty of range, and he did a great job taking advantage of hard closeouts after knocking down a few 3s, attacking the bucket and finishing. He has good length and is a solid athlete who can get into passing lanes and move his feet on that end of the floor. The Nietert-Kern- Mason Matson Mason Matson 6’1″ | PG Linn Mar | 2025 State IA 2025 trio for Linn-Mar is definitely one to watch over the next three years.
Highlights
Kern is near the top of an absolutely loaded 2025 class and he showed a little bit of everything in Linn-Mar’s win over Bettendorf, finishing with 10 points, 9 rebounds, 2 assists, and 2 steals. He has a pure stroke out to the arc and with his size he’s able to get his shot off whenever he wants. He showed improved confidence in his ball-handling, catching on the perimeter and using his size and handle to get to the rim for a few finishes. A modern big man who can run the floor and finish above the rim, stretch the floor, protect the paint, and rebound at a high level, adding that ball-handling and decision-making to his arsenal is the next step and it appears as though he’s headed in the right direction. He’s oozing with potential and upside.
Gaul stuffed the stat sheet in Crestwood’s road win over Denver, finishing with 8 points (3-5 FG, 2-4 3P), 5 rebounds, 9 assists, and a steal. He’s a good ball-handler and passer who sees the floor extremely well and is always looking to get his teammates involved first and foremost. He impressed with his work on the offensive glass, willing to stick his nose in amongst the bigger players and compete for offensive boards and valuable extra possessions, and he showed a smooth stroke out to the arc when he does look to score.

Seaton Ingram
Seaton Ingram
Ingram came off the bench to provide a real spark on both ends of the floor for the Lions in their season-opening win over Carlisle last week, finishing with 10 points, 8 rebounds, and 2 steals. He’s an impressive athlete with good length who looks to attack the rim consistently, either in transition or in the halfcourt. He does a good job using his length to interrupt things on the defensive end, getting into passing lanes and making things difficult for opposing ball-handlers with his combination of length and quickness. He put the exclamation point on the overtime win with a powerful dunk in transition off of a steal, showcasing some of his explosive athleticism. He struggled with turnovers but it was his first varsity game and he was a little sped up at times, so that’s understandable. He looks like he’s going to be a major player for DMC over the next three years.
