Carmen Northwest looked to get revenge on MAS after losing to them last season, and Edwards was a key reason why they were able to do that. The sophomore guard is lightning quick, and fit in perfectly with Carmen’s high pressure defense that forced a bunch of turnovers. He was able to pick up steals and take off in transition, including elevating for a dunk that looked to have caught most of the gym off guard. MAS threw multiple defenders at him but none of them could keep him out of the paint. Edwards showed off a crafty finishing ability and flashed a mid-range game on his way to 17 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists, 4 steals, and a win.
It was another monster performance from Jaquan as he led Pius XI past a tough Franklin team. At this point it doesn’t really matter what you throw at him, he’s just going to find ways to produce. Jaquan is the type of guard who can get into the paint at will, with the strong frame to shield off contact on his way to the rim to score. He also had a lot of success getting into the paint and facilitating, finding his teammates wide open on the arc a handful of times. Defensively he’s going to get right up in your face and has excellent hands to poke the ball free. Also does a nice job of reading passes off the ball, knowing when to jump the lanes for steals, and then having the speed and poise to finish in transition. Finished with 23 points in the win.

Jamarion has been lighting it up to start off his sophomore season. Against Carmen Northwest he helped to ignite what was nearly a massive comeback in the second half. Any time he had an inch of space he was letting it fly, and they were dropping just about every time. Carmen couldn’t afford to let him get into space, but he was curling off screens and putting in the work off the ball to create those chances for himself. High level shooter with some size at 6’3 and a quick release. Finished with 32 points on the night.
I’m sure David would be the first to admit he didn’t have his best game offensively, but he makes this list because of what he was doing on the defensive end. Rufus King got barely any scoring from their guards, and David’s intense ball pressure was a big reason why. He wasn’t giving them an inch of breathing room, and he’s so quick with his feet to cut his man off whenever they change directions. Bolden does an excellent job of drawing charges as well, as he can frustrate his man into pushing off, and he knows how to sell the contact a bit to ensure the call.

Lakeside Lutheran hardly needed Levi to play in the second half, but even in the limited minutes he put up 22 points in the win. Birkholz got to the rim effortlessly, and once there was able to hang in the air and just finish in traffic like there were no defenders there. Also leaked out into transition for three dunks, including a powerful slam early that really set the tempo for the rest of the game. Not many players possess Levi’s finishing ability, but it’s also his awareness and unselfishness that make him very efficient as he can wait for the perfect moment to attack.

Always calm and composed on the ball, Tim Franks Tim Franks 6’5″ | SG Homestead | 2024 State WI put up a team high 26 points in leading Homestead past Milwaukee Hamilton. Tim was knocking down a handful of threes like we’ve become accustomed too, but was also finding success getting to the rim and finishing off two feet. Knows he’s not going to be blowing by smaller guards off the dribble, but once he did get an edge on his man he did a good job of pinning him on his hip and then extending once at the rim to finish. Defensively he seems to draw at least one charge a game, and against Hamilton he took two charges getting to his spots on the help-side and getting his feet set in time for the contact.
Dupree put up an impressive 20 points, 9 rebounds, and 6 assists for Carmen NW in the win over MAS. Fletcher plays with excellent change of speeds which allows him to create separation on the arc or get by his man and get two feet in the paint to make plays. He’s the type of player who could likely go for 30+ on any given night if he wanted to, but is willing to pass up on good shots if there’s an even better shot available to one of his teammates. When he looks to drive you can always see him scanning the floor for the best available option.
